    Cruising RPM's?

Sweet spot for fuel efficiency for me is 3800, 29 MPH... Twin 200 HP HPDIs, 20 years old, 1200 hours...

    Beckson Deck Plate Color...

White or cream? I use almond caulk, and while the boat is 20 years old, not sure what would blend better... What do you have?

    Wireless MOB Kill Switches

In free space, power decreases by a factor of distance squared... In a five gallon bucket, you have maybe six inches of water, which would definitely attenuate the signal, but the remaining ~20 feet is still free space... You fall in the water, your fob is likely well below the surface, and at...

    Wireless MOB Kill Switches

Distance in free space (air) is far greater than distance once you (and the fob) go in the drink... Once it's submerged more than a couple inches, the base station will loose contact and the engine(s) will stop...

    Transom drain tubes

So I pulled the old scuppers off the transom (265) and saw that two of the three drain tubes were not flared on the outside of the transom... The flare on the inside on the middle drain had corroded and broken off, so I was keen to replace at least that one... I chiseled out the middle and...

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

One thing I ran into a coupe years ago was that the switch that detects neutral would intermittently get stuck... So, I would be in gear, running on four, and when I advanced the throttle, that engine ran slow and weak (obviously)... Was a simple fix, but something to be aware of... I...

265 Express Rub Rail End Caps...

I'm getting an estimate on having a pair of end caps fabricated from SS... If anyone needs a pair, let me know, and maybe we can get a better unit price...

    Spring projects...

Yep - Pettit recommended 80 grit, but that was a little too aggressive, so I used 100...

    Spring projects...

Yea, I followed the directions meticulously in regards to time and temperature - just didn't work well for me... Hope this time it works a little better... At least it's below the waterline... Lol

    Spring projects...

I had it blasted a few years ago and went with the Petit Vivid over barrier coat... I keep it on a lift, and the Vivid seems like it's oriented for boats that live on a rack, trailer, or lift... The first go around, the paint didn't seem top adhere particularly well (may have been poorly...

    Spring projects...

The list is starting to shrink... Biggest job was sanding and painting the bottom... I then ran the 3-in1 transducer cable to the new carbon MFD... replaced cup fuel filters, oil strainers (in tank), and in-line oil filter on engine... Checked the plugs - GTG... Did the VST, silver cans...

    Replacing V-Berth Cushions...

Clearly - visited a local canvas place, and the ROM ranged from $900 for foam replacement to $2k for new cushions/upholstery... Will take some noodlin'...

    Replacing V-Berth Cushions...

Definitely an option, though the upholstery is a bit scratchy, and I am thinking five inches might be a lot better than three inches... Guess I'll be weighing cost/benefit along the spectrum...

    Replacing V-Berth Cushions...

Yea, that was me - got an oval table from Boat Outfitters and put a mount on it so it could slide onto the pedestal... Works like a charm... yea, would definitely appreciate more room, a mid-berth, genset, and AC, but the boat I have is infinitely better than the one I don't have... :-)

    Replacing V-Berth Cushions...

Yea, I am in the perhaps unusual position of staying on the boat overnight a good bit with wife and little boy... If it were within my means, I'd love to have a 330 Express - but that's $100K (min) past the paid for boat I already have... Doing my best to make it as comfy as possible for our...

    Replacing V-Berth Cushions...

So, For the last few years, I've thought about replacing my cushions because they are extremely hard... I put in a Froli underlayment, which helps mainly with ventilation, but not much with cushion... I have put mattress toppers over the cushions, and this works OK, but is a PITA... I have...

    Installing new Cr49...

My dad (RIP) was am aeronautical engineer, whose love affair with airplanes lasted from the age of three to his last moments at age 87... He built models as a youth, and he eventually built and flew his own homebuilt (Sonerai II)... I had immense respect for his intellect and love for...

    Installing new Cr49...

Thanks all... Yes, I am using the free spot (ACC) on the panel to add a new breaker specifically for the fridge - planning to go by West today, where they have the wire and breaker in stock... You wouldn't know I am an electrical engineer - lol... I have immense respect for electricians and...
