    Those kill switch thingies?

I can second the opinion on the Fell Marine wireless kill switch... That thing is probably the most important safety upgrade you can make on a boat... The lanyard switches are only useful when they are used, which is almost never... My Fell switch (first gen) was useless until they came out...

    AutoPilot Accuracy...

For me, it's a necessity for trolling in general, solo trolling in particular... But I don't like trolling, so not particularly applicable in my case... I find it really useful when I am going slow and need to fiddle with something in the back or in the cabin (of course, knowing nothing is...

    AutoPilot Accuracy...

The straight lines are AP-1 guided - the wiggly ones are me... Nice to see how effective the AP is on my 265 Express...

My new to me 2004 265 Express

Congrats! That's about what I got my 2001 for in 2013... First thing I did was replace all the hinges and latches...Over the years, I've replaced faucets, freshwater pump, livewell pump, washdown pump, rear bilge pump and switch, added a floodlight, replaced electronics with HDS-9, sonichuh...

265 Express: Table for the Helm Pedestal...

LOL - I view it as a necessity on a 265 since the space is so limited... If I had a 330, I don't know what I'd do with all the additional room... That's my dream boat - a mid-berth, genset, and AC would be a big step up... :-)

265 Express: Table for the Helm Pedestal...

Based on a suggestion I read years ago, I finally bought an oval starboard table from Boat Outfitters and fitted it with a pedestal mount... At anchor or tied up, I can remove the helm chair and conveniently tip it up and over, resting on the steering wheel and dash... I now replace it with...

    new strataglass (A & J Canvas)

Can't say enough good things about Lee and her folks... They were going to replace plastic for me in my old canvas, but due to an screw-up on my part, we went with an entirely new set... Lee sent a guy all the way up here to Deale, MD specifically to get measurements for my 265 Express so...

    Zinc Inspection/Replacement...

I'm replacing my trim and bracket zincs (trim anodes had only moderate erosion) on my HPDIs, but didn't inspect the cylinder head anodes - frankly, I haven't ever inspected them, and would have to look at the manual to find them... Are these commonly replaced?

    Lower Unit Seal Replacement...

2001 200 HP HPDIs... Yea, not too worried about it - the drained lube looked OK, but they won't get any newer, so I figured it was a good time to replace and have peace of mind... Did the other motor two years ago, so this should hold me for a while...

    Lower Unit Seal Replacement...

Oil looked OK, but the pressure held at only 8 PSI on the port (CR) lower unit... Pretty sure it's the prop seals, but since we're replacing the water pump, we'll also do the upper seals... Anyone have a list of parts (or a kit) I need for this? Already have the water pump parts - just...

    Auto pilots

I just spent my second day out with my newly commissioned Lowrance Autopilot, controlled by an HDS-9 Touch Gen 2, using Point 1 AP... Install was a pain, but that's because the only option on a 265 Express is to cut (replace, in my case) the steering lines... Now that it's done, I can say this...

    Replacing oil fill deck plate...

My starboard oil fill deck plate is missing the little plastic insert that keeps you from putting gas in that hole... I find them useful for holding the funnel I use to add oil... I looked into replacing the deck plate, but there seems to be no way to remove it... The oil fill tube is almost...

That's awesome... I love the rich history of pranksterism associated with Ma Tech... My dad was AE '56 and I was EE '87... My dad had a serious love/hate with the place (more hate than love)... I remember his stories about a chemistry professor nicknamed "The Red-Headed Bastard"... In my...
