    marlin 30 question

Silicone is fine around the edges of the hatch, but if the screws go into wood, there's no way I would rely on silicone there as well. 4200 minimum on the screws.

    Jack plates for Gradys

wbauch can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm willing to bet the debris he's referring to is the submerged, lying on the bottom kind. The floating stuff would have cleared out long ago. If this is the case, the jackplate would help tremendously. That being said, I would definitely check with...

    Yamaha 4stroke vs Mercury Verado

If anything were possible, I would go with the Pursuit and outfit it with a pair of Optis.

    GENERAL TOWING RECOMMENDATIONS/EXPERIENCES

'93 Sailfish 252G on an '06 Hi-Tech 10,200 lb GVWR (8,700 lb. carrying capacity) tandem. Kodiak discs on both axles. Tow vehicle was an '03 Ram 2500 quad cab 4x4. 5.7 HEMI, 5-speed auto and 4.10 gears. If you're not planning on distance pulling all the time, there is no need to...

    Trim tabs question

What props are you running? In my opinion, the 25' Sailfish NEEDS large diameter, stern lifting props if to really run right. I know it made a night and day difference in mine.

    Plastic insert disintegrating...

Glass isn't going to stick to that. Your best bet is to use it to first make a mold that you can then lay up a new part in.

    Yes

Yes, it's nice to be able to set up a boat exactly how you want using what you want, but with a true "refurb" you certainly won't have a ton of cash left over when you're done. :D

How thick can the fairing compound be?

Fairing compound is merely meant to smooth the surface, fill pin holes, etc. It is not meant to build thickness. I would lay a bit of 3/4 oz. mat w/ epoxy to get the area as flat as possible and then fair and gelcoat.

    1989 SAILFISH REPOWER

Your biggest issue will be the weight of the engines. Twin 250 V's are almost 1400 lbs. whereas something like twin '89 Yamaha 200s was only about 780 lbs. That will definiltey have a negative impact on the way the boat sits and performs. If you do it, structurally she will need to be better...

    Help me Decide!

My guess is that 454 will burn about 14 gal/hr at a cruise of 3000 to 3400. Probably running in the low 20s at that point.
