I'm pretty sure you have a Lewmar Horizon 500 windlass. Your picture looks identical to the one I have. I have an electronic copy of the manual if you want it- just send me your email address. The specs on the chain and rode are very specific for this windlass, so be sure to get the right...

replacing yamaha fuel filters with racor/clear bowl?

onoahimahi I still think you're correct in that even 2 quarts of water in 100 gal will overwhelm a Racor (or any filter for that matter). I switched to the large Yam 10 micron filter since it has somewhat more holding capacity than the Racors. Both filters are good but perhaps the larger...

New Boat. "new to us anyway"

I have a '04 with the same engines as you, so my hull has a bit less deadrise then yours, but 41 mph at 6K sounds low. Mine will hit about 49 mph with 2 people and 3/4 full gas. Did you check the speed on the GPS or just the Yam gauge (which are notoriously inaccurate)? Good luck with the...

    265 Express Pro's and Con's

I have a 2004 265 with F225s. No issues with the height of the scuppers above the waterline, it's at least 2" with full gas tanks. Drains great. I think GW modified the hull somewhat around 2002 to better accommodate the weight of the four strokes- someone else might know the specifics...

    Macerator Pump

I used a PVC reducer and it has worked out fine- no back up. I did not even consider removing the old pump - I envisioned issues with broken bolts, trying to get a cover to fill the hole, etc just to gain a small volume increase. Not to mention a gross job!

    F225 Trim Cylinder/Ram Dimensions

One of my trim rams is leaking an I'll be replacing the seal in the spring since the boat is high and dry. I plan to make a tool to make it easier to remove the cap, similar to the Yamaha tool but with a handle, sort of like the one on ebay. It's a good winter project for the upcoming snowy...

    Trim switch kills engine

I agree low batteries might do this but why doesn't the same issue occur when trimming the engine using the handle thumb switch or the one on the engine? Volts at 13.8; engines restarts instantly after with it was killed and the starter sounds normal. I suspect the wiring from the binnacle...

    Trim switch kills engine

Strange problem developed this weekend. 2004 265 Express with T F225 Yamahas. No problem trimming the engines with the trim switch in the handle, but if I trimmed the starboard engine with the individual switch on the binnacle, the RPMs dropped instantly and would have killed the engine. Let...
