Which Radio and speakers to install?

Lowrance HDS-7 can be had for comfortably under $750 these days, including transducer. You can add the Sonichub for $250 or so, which comes with two speakers. It's a good unit, for the money.

I'd also look at RDS. Even with tax and shipping, it may come out less. They did one for me some years ago. Fit like a glove. www.rdsaluminum.com

flush mount electronics solutions for a 223?

I've done a flush mount on both my 223 and 225.....the electronics will likely hit the bottom of the opening when you try to flip it up. Additionally, you will need to leave plenty of slack in your wiring, or be creative in how you fasten the wiring so that it doesn't bind or pull, but also...

    Faded Grady White lettering

$210 apiece?? Wow. I looked back and paid about $90 including shipping this time last year. I'd call Taylor Marine (302) 422-9177 and Southeastern Marine (804) 226-1111. Two big dealers with big parts departments. You might still find the old ones in stock.

    Installing new elec on dash

Might need to post a pic or two. The newer (98-on) Seafarer's used a fold down e-box that would unlatch and drop down to give you access. Not sure about the older ones.

    Tournament 223 Repower

I've owned 223s and 225s of the same vintage with both 200 (SWS Carb) and 225 OX66. The 225 provided a bit more low end torque but top end was within a mile of each other (around 42.5) One thought to consider is to look at the performance specs for that boat rigged with an F225. The F225...

    Tournament 223 Repower

The fluctuating RPM issue may be related to the VST, or low pressure fuel pumps. A big bore F250 is a lot of weight on a 223....GW rigged the 223 with an F225 in it's last year of production (2002) but not sure if they moved the tanks forward to accommodate the extra weight. Have you...

228 with an F250 - sitting a bit low in the water

The tilt limit on an E-Tec is higher than the tilt limit on a Yamaha. This is particularly important as the rigging tube can get pinched otherwise. Keep up with your anodes if you have an electrolysis problem in your marina.....

    Newbie washdown question

I'd replace the pump...by the time you get the parts and throw in your time (labor), you could be finished with the job. Replacement pumps are between $100-$125

First year for F250 on 228??

2005 is the first year for the F250. At the time, the upcharge from the 225 to the 250 was nominal (if I recall, about $600 or so) so most came with the 250. GW sold (and may still sell) a kit to glue replacement pads over the existing Pompanette pads that had an aversion to sunscreen. I...

    Grady 228/226 Speaker Location Ideas??

One thing I did do was leave enough wire behind the speaker so that if I wanted to rotate them to face the helm, I could do so. That would have placed the sound right behind me. Never had to though....even facing the other way I could hear them just fine.

    Grady 228/226 Speaker Location Ideas??

Gulfsea - Pics as promised. I wanted the wiring to be as hidden as possible, but was unmotivated to pull a chase through the pipes, so I ran the wiring behind the pipe and above the zip in storage compartment...had to drill a small wire and add a fitting but you would have had to look closely...

Is there an integrated hour meter in the Yamahas?

Depends on the year of the motors, and the gauges that were rigged on it. If the Tach has buttons, you can cycle through the menus and find the hours. Note - these are hours that the key is "on"...not actually hours run. Carb'ed and OX66 motors do not have an ECU that stored the number of...

    Grady 228/226 Speaker Location Ideas??

My 226 had a pair of Poly Planar MA8000 box speakers on the hardtop, right next to the spreader lights. Was plenty loud. I'll dig up a picture and post it.

Need replacement hardtop mast light for '07 228G

The GW Part Number is 13-125. Finding an exact match is tough because Perko only sells this part as an OEM part and it's not in their catalog. You could use the 1273 DP CHR mast which also has the bend, but the bend is at the "top" and not the bottom which puts the light further back.

    190 Tournament

I'd look for a '94 or newer 192. It's the same boat but with the Sea V2 hull. I owned a late 80s 190...was a wet boat. Fun - but wet. A 150 is plenty of power, although you do see some out there with 200s. A 150 will push the boat to near 45 mph. A 200 will do over 50.
