Yamaha Command Link - Fuel Consumption Gauge Accuracy

A suggestion: Restart the 'gallons used' back to zero each time you fill up the fuel tank. After a few fuel-ups you'll get to see if your gauge runs a bit high or low and by how much. Then you can calibrate the gauge with that info. Its in the manual. If my gauge says I've burned 50 gallons...

    Journey 258 windows

Greg: I'd love to see some photos of the ice box between the seats. Presuming you're using the space where an optional fuel tank would go? If so, I'm thinking of doing the same. Wondering if/how you added insulation? The freezer idea is impressive! Tx, Rob

    Journey 258 windows

Greg: Unfortunately, my side windows have no markings as to the manufacturer. The windsheild is a 'Water Bonnett', I belive made by 'Taylor Made'. As for the F300 question, I think you would be very happy switching up from an F225. Other than just getting up on plane faster, I notice the power...

    Journey 258 windows

Greg: The F300 performs really well, considerably better than the F250 we had before. Grady suggests a 15 3/4 X 15 prop for this combo. Our dealer suggested that we try a 15 1/2 X 17 prop, and I'm glad we did. We can run about 3,400 rpm, getting 27 mph and 3.3 - 3.4 (statute) mpg. When I want...

    repowering a 255 gw

I'll second that review. My F300 is 4 years old with 600 hours and not a hiccup. It is a bit louder then the F250 it replaced, but has quite a bit more mid-range power. Advertised dry weight of my hull is 4,150 lbs and the F300 pushes it along very well.

    Journey 258 windows

Greg: First, welcome to the forum. Ill try to remember to see if there is a manufacturers name this weekend. In the mean time, I'll suggest emailing Grady. They're quite good at being helpful. Rob

calculate the crouch factor for your grady

Low confidence that I did this correctly. But for a 258 weighing 5,000 lbs. (I'm guessing this is wet weight?) with and F300 and a hull form of 180, it predicts a top end of 44 mph. That's pretty close, as on a good day I can hit 46 mph. So I did it again, this time entering a speed of 46 mph...

    232 vs 257

When making the buying decision, we rode the 232 and 258 side-by-side. Our experience was just as what Magicalbill writes. Rob

    Help! New Grady problems

257: I have the same hull (on a 258) with a single F300. My live-well and water tank are both to port. I notice a lean. Mine seems more prominent when applying power to get up on plane, so I believe the torque of the prop contributes. I moved both batteries to starboard and I went with some...

1999 Voyager - raising engine results

Family: Run a straight edge from the bottom of the hull, just below the drain plug to the anti-cavitation plate on the outboard. If those two line up, I suspect the engine mounting is good, or at least doesn't account for the problem. Certainly isn't engine power, from your numbers. Beyond...

    What change makes sense?

We similarly mounted a Garmin 4208 using Starboard. I think it makes it easier to push buttons in a bouncy sea since I have an area to place the heel of my hand, that can support some weight, leaving my fingers free to press the right buttons. Also seems to reduce vibration on the Garmin...

    Steering control problem

Or, as I experienced just recently, you may find a kink in a hydraulic line under the deck, that's not obvious at first. How the heck a kink forms in a line that doesn't move is beyond me.... It gave me similar symptoms. Had to turn hard (to push fluid through the kink) then it would feel okay...

Locating VHF antenna on Freedom 225

Many things a VHF can do that a phone cannot. Especially in an emergency when seconds may matter. I wouldn't intentionally be without a VHF.
