Happy Thanksgiving to all GREAT GRADY members

Funny how you kind of get to know people on-line thru neat forums such as this one. You haven't met but, in a way, you have. I second the Holiday wishes for CJ and everyone..

    re power new yamaha

Wait.. I might have mis--read your post..If your talking about brand-new 4's (the 350's or new 300's) I can't say how reliable they are..

    re power new yamaha

Before investing in power for my new Gulfstream, I asked the service guys..they said the 4-strokes rarely come back for service, but the 2-strokes are more prone to problems. I can't speak in terms of longevity, as my 200 4-strokes only have 180-odd hrs. on them. "0" problems so far..excellent...

    New Yamaha 4 strokes

Granted, I'm no ones mechanic, but... If a 2-stroke has more low-end planing power, how can re-powering with 4-strokes of the same HP "rip the transom off?" I can see reinforcing the new transoms to accommadate the weight of the 4's but I can't believe they would have that significant a...

    200 HPDI Engine Questions

Guess I should qualify the above post by adding that many here have said the 200HDPI's are right up there with the best Yamaha has produced. I personally don't know, but would have taken them IF Grady would've rigged them for me. That said, my owner's experience has made me a 4-stroke believer.

    200 HPDI Engine Questions

Another sort-of-related thought. When I was discussing the options with my (Great!) folks at Twin Cities Marine, I wanted 200HDPI's on my Gulfstream.Several here stated that was the perfect power for the 232 Gulf. Come to find out, Grady at that point was rigging new boats with 4-strokes...

    200 HPDI Engine Questions

I have no personal experience, but most on this site love the 200 HDPI. I owned a Seafarer for 10 years and towed it in the beginning with a 1/2 ton Ford..Did fine, as will your 'Burb. I don't think the hardtop would cause you to upgrade your tow vehicle. Just be mindful of clearances and...

Trailer hubs and brakes replacement. How often?

I get my bearings replaced about once a year. Had the brakes, rotors, drums replaced this spring, although they last longer than a year. I have the trailer checked thoroughly every spring and fall. With each appointment they re-pack the hubs and troubleshoot it. I pull it 5000-6000 miles a year...

Best for overnight fishing trips? Need room to sleep...

Just what BobP said. There's always something better to dream about, but I assure you when it rains and I'm in my 232 cabin with the reading lite on, I'm happy to be there and not complaining. My only inconveinence would be that I have to limit what I keep on board in the way of gear...

Best for overnight fishing trips? Need room to sleep...

I owned a Seafarer for 10 years..Slept on it all the time. Heck, slept two many times..Slept with my head aft, feet facing forward. The V-berth makes for a better choice for 2 than the Gulfstream. I currently own a 232 Gulf and sleep in it for 2 weeks at a time on vacation. NO prob...can't wait...

Still glad you "Got the Grady?"

jeykl.. That may be the answer..A smaller get-around boat that one doesn't obsess over.. "Boating Without Commitment!" OffDuty.. Neat Sailfish. I think that may be the "Classic" Grady model..I don't think they look any better than that.. Yet..the Express line is right in there too...

Still glad you "Got the Grady?"

This may or may not be revelant..I'll throw it on anyway.. I sold my 1992 Seafarer in ,03..I was tired of the upkeep, trailering(I live in Indiana) and all the maintenance. Plus, the 250 Yam gave me some trouble. I was relieved from not having to deal with the responsibilities, but started...

    Batteries - how many seasons?

My '07 Gulfstream has the original batteries.Going into my 3rd season in 2010. My dealer(Twin Cities Marine-Two Rivers WI) has been helpful to me on many levels..One of the neatest things they recommended to order with the boat was an on-board battery charging unit. Neat thing..I plug it into...

Still glad you "Got the Grady?"

Interesting.. I always enjoy hearing about peoples future plans.. So you are thinking of ultimately living aboard? Those Nordhavns are beauts..I also like the Grand Banks Line. Like you, there would have to be an upswing in the real estate market for me to jump into a similar boat...

    Anchor winch question, advice needed

I have the same problem with my Lewmar winch that I ordered from the factory.(I have a 232 Gulfstream.) When the rode catches and bunches up, I do what you do..Just drop it back down and then bring it up again. I find that it tends to spool up better when there is a SLIGHT tension on the rode...
