New boater question about the Voyager and Gulfstream

I always qualify my comments with the fact that it's easier for me to spend your money than mine.. Keeping that in mind, I have a 232 Gulfstream with twin 200's. There are pro's and con's between the members on this board concerning the advantages and disadvantages of the two setups. That said...

Researching next boat- thinking of a grady 228g. advice?

Owned a Seafarer for 10 years..Single 250. You have done your research and I agree it's the best choice for your needs. (By the way, I am a Donzi owner also..(1967 Ski Sporter 16..Restored.) I have overnited on my Seafarer many times..2 people can do it and it works. You have to stash your...

Best single engine GW Walkaround Cabin

Mike(VeroWing) may be correct on the fuel burn with single vs. twins. My 232(Gulfstream) gets 1.8-2.0 MPG at a 3600-4000 cruise. This translates to 29-33 MPH. These numbers are in calm conditions where I'm not jacking with the throttle to adjust to sea state. However, I must add that the...

Best single engine GW Walkaround Cabin

I have a 232 with twin 200's and would not want it in a single configuration. I would shoot for the Seafarer 226 if your 'bound to stay with a single. It should be a better ride over the 208, but still maneuverable.

Is a Bow Thruster the answer to my problem?

I have never operated an inboard, but have been informed on this site that twin OB's don't have the close-quarter maneuvering capabilities that inboards have.. I continue to practice with my 232 Gulfstream..I would advise the same, and while your learning and gettin it down, line your...

    This Ever Happen To You?

Many people treat boats(and cars) like throwaway items.. remember when you used to see guys washing their cars/boats in the driveway on Sunday afternoon? Those days are gone..Too many other distractions and responsibilites in life nowadays. Two jobs, 3 kids..soccer practice..afterschool...

    Sailfish Handling

I am still learning to back my 232 Gulfstream(Twin 200's) into slips. I try to put it in with the throttles only..When I start spinning the wheel while working the throttles, I get overwhelmed..One action undoes the other and I get sideways. So..Any other secrets other than repetition? I can...

Is the 232 too big to trail with half ton truck?

I am not disputing the fact that it can be towed with a 1/2 ton. I'm saying.... The bigger your truck the safer you and the boat and trailer will be and the less strain on drivetrain and engine over the years. Getting my dual diesel to pull my 232 was the best move I could've made. Opt for...

Is the 232 too big to trail with half ton truck?

It is a GREAT combo..beam/length..Great ride and very stable at drift. In answer to the question, I went from a 3/4 454CID Chev to a Dodge Cummins Dual Wheel when I got my 232. keep in mind, I tow full fuel, fully loaded, ice in the coolers, etc. Plus, the trailer weighs 2000+ My scaled...

Sickday.. Thanks for the response..I very rarely chat with anyone on the West Coast, so your description of the weather forces is interesting. Enjoy your boat..

Great Day on my Grady. No help needed,,pics

Glad you had fun..Nothing like clearing the coastline and heading out to sea, especially in calm conditions. Speaking of that, since you live out there, what's the percentage of calm days like you had?

    Scuppers

My Gulfstream 232 has the max power and weight allowed(twin 200 HP 4-strokes.) The scuppers are underwater, it still drains, no problem. I have had the boat 3 summers without a worry. It doesn't matter.

    SAILFISH RE-POWER-OPTION or NOT

I have no experience with the 250's but my Yamaha 200 4-strokes run flawlessly. As long as they put out engines with this kind of hi-level operation and a huge service/dealer network I will never buy any other outboard ever.

    What should I do?

Get proof somehow that the actual hours are 1300. Determine what kind of compensation you want or should have and go get it. The diff. between 671 and 1300 hrs. account for several years of use. That matters They lied to you..That matters too.... After you clear it up, enjoy the boat...
