How to replace a section of bent bow rail

I bent a section of rail on my 226....its a one piece rail from the bow to midships. Wound up having to order the railing and stanchions from GW. It was an expensive lesson on my part that could have been prevented. If I recall, by the time I was done it was north of $500...

    Ring Free $27.99 a quart!

Its a Yamaha product that they recommend you use at every fillup. A poll of folks on this board, and other forums, would probably find a general consensus that the stuff works. Personally, I've used it for years and every motor I've ever sold has passed a compression test with flying colors...

    trailering a 208 or 228

You don't say what year your Yukon is, or whether it has the 5.3 or 6.0 engine, but you should be fine with either a 208 or 228. My 226 weighed 6600 lbs with a half tank of fuel and not too much gear in it. I had it weighed at a scale, so this is GVW - including the weight of the trailer...

    YAMAHA OX66 225 Propeller Question

Running that motor at 5200 WOT is still within the recommended range and likely didn't contribute to its initial demise. That said, I'd look for a 17" wheel...should be a perfect fit.

    hp question

    My 2001 226 had a 200 HPDI...cruised at 30-31....top speed was 41. Prop selection is critical.....I ran a 15.25x17 Merc Mirage Plus.

    1984 190 tourament question

I owned an '86 190 Tournament from 1996-2004... Biggest things to look at are the engine (compression and lower unit pressure test)...the fuel tank (I had to replace mine)...the hatch over the in-floor fishbox (mine was soft and I had to reinforce it with a piece of plywood glassed into the...

Here is the link to the pics...including our trip to the lock on Nickajack... Due to the "one day" nature of the trip, we literally locked down and right back up...it was more for the experience for those who had never locked through....and the lockmaster was able to accomodate us... The...

    Parthery.

We did it about 4 years ago in October....JiminGa, Bokat, myself from this forum, as well as 4-5 folks from the THT Atlanta/Lake Lanier group. We ran the 38 miles from Chattanooga to Nickajack, locked down and right back up, then had lunch at Hales Bar. Part of the the group went the night...

Considering repowering my 1996 209 escape: pros cons

Watch the weight...a 4 stroke on the back of one of those may not be a good fit. I'd look hard for an E-Tec...you can reuse your controls and harness (BRP makes an adapter) and the weight will not be an issue.

    new guy here, advice please.

You live in some beautiful boating country. We used to have a family lake house at Watts Bar, and a number of us from the ATL have come up and made the trip through the "Grand Canyon of the South"... We may make the trip again later in the summer. Call GW cust service at 252-752-2211. They...

tow with curtains on or off?

Congratulations.... I used to tow my 226 with the front curtains down from time to time....never more than 25-30 miles although it was on the expressway. Just make sure all the snaps are tight. Not sure about the side or aft curtains though...to me, if wind gets behind them they will...

    Carb Cleaning

You might try a can of Seafoam mixed in with a gallon of fuel and run off a portable tank. Run it through...let it soak for 20 minutes or so. Then fire it up and go run it at WOT for 10-15 min.

    Need Gas Tank

I used RDS for a tank for a 19' Tournament. They had the plans, and delivered an exact fit to my door via UPS. I'd recommend them.

    new to forum, a question

You need an 8600 GVW trailer...this will give you a capacity in the neighborhood of 7000 lbs. A 6400 lb capacity tow vehicle is going to be overloaded trying to pull this boat. Wahoo's estimates are good, but you need to add the weight of the trailer itself (1500 or so).

    Yamaha Dead!

On mine, if the kill switch tether is removed and you turn the key to the start position, it won't crank. You will, however, be able to test the alarm....

When is it normal to start pounding ?

The 248 hull became a SeaV-2 in the early 90s... The change from the 248 to the 258 had to do with "pockets" that the tabs were in....the 248 had a tendency to run bow high......
