Same with me. I buy the Startron for $9/bottle at either Walmart or West (since they match it.) Ringfree is not cheap...order it from Andy (Shipyard Island) and buy a bunch. The stuff can sit on the shelf and not go bad.

Go with Sunbrella..it holds up better to the elements. Make sure you support it appropriately...otherwise the weight of the snow may cause problems.

If you are lucky, its just the tab on the front of the motor that the sending unit arm leans against. The tab runs about $15 or so. Yamaha changed the design from plastic to SS a couple years back because they kept breaking. If that doesn't fix it, then you may need a new sending unit...

Find a late model 200 HPDI...there are still some out there.

In short, no. Unless the waranty specifically specifies that the use of StaBill will void the warranty, and unless Yamaha can prove that the damage was caused by the StaBil, the warranty will be valid. Use RingFree and Startron, and you will be fine.

As someone who has owned a 208, a 226, and a 228, I can tell you that no matter which one you go for, you will always get 2-ft itis. I loved my 208...easy to trailer, one person could launch and load, and was great inshore and 10 miles or so out. Downside was the cabin was not much more...

If you are going to shock treat the motor, then get yourself a small o/b gas tank (3 or 6 gallon)...add a gallon of fuel and an oz of ringfree, and hook the fuel line to the inlet side of your water separator. Start the motor up and let it run for a few minutes, sucking fuel from the portable...

Shock treatment is 1 oz per 1 gallon. The normal ratio is 1 oz for 10 gallons.

If I was paying for a survey, I would expect, at the very least, to have a compression test done on the engine. Is the surveyor associated, affiliated or accredited by SAMS?

It might be worth making a claim on your marine policy....if its covered then you are only out the deductible.

Both my 226 and 228 sat on 7000 GVW trailers...which gave me a net carrying capacity of around 5900 lbs or so. It was the perfect size. My 208 sat on a 6000 GVW trailer...5200 capacity.

Steve shut it down about a month ago. He and I have remained in contact. Without getting into details, the relationship between him and Loadmaster went downhill.
