    Raymarine C80 Video Card Repair

My Raymarine C80 started a scroll pattern when I turned it on for the first time this season. I was told by 2 shops online that it is the video card. Both stated they could repair it, but one also said it it probably just loose and needs to be reseated, but entails a a deep breakdown of the...

272 Sailfish has twin 150s is that too light?

Here is an old report from when the 272 was new comparing the twin 2 stroke 200's vs 225's. Like others said depending on what you want to do with the boat. On mine we typically cruise around the bay and shellfish and tie up at the beach, for where my boat is moored it is mostly all no wake...

Best way to clean off mildew

I have found the Lysol Mold and Mildew Foamer, its in a purple bottle, works comparable to Starbrite, Spray on and rinse off. Might be a problem finding it now though.

What NOT to do while towing

I left the non-mounted spare tire right behind the lounge jack for winter storage (usually throw in bed of truck) on one of my first boats (23' Cobia). Bringing the boat to the canvas shop via side roads a few miles from the house I saw oncoming cars swerve and looked in the rearview mirror to...

    OX66 problem-Please advice!

I was gonna guess low pressure fuel pumps but you replaced them. When I had a bad O2 sensor I could not get the boat to hold a steady RPM, it would drift all over the place. Being so expensive I replaced with the automotive one and spliced the wires to rule it in or out, when I figured that...

    Tilt and trim seals

When I did mine I had a generic spanner where the pins lined up to the caps but were slightly too large for the holes in the cap. I drilled the holes out a little bigger to accept the spanner and it was fairly smooth sailing from there. I replaced them a few seasons ago and they have held up...

Is your 180 Sportsman bottom painted and on a trailer?

Boat is in my fathers yard, I can get a real measurement later in the week if needed. 2005 with a F150

    2005 F150 Compression Numbers

The boat checked out ok this morning and towed her home. My father has been keeping an eye open for a 180 Sportsman over the summer and we were lucky to find this one fairly close to home for a reasonable price. Only 160 original hours and marina maintained. Only thing we really want to try...

    2005 F150 Compression Numbers

My father and I are going to look at a 2005 180 Sportsman Saturday. It has an F150 on it. What should the compression range be? I am pretty sure it’s a lot higher than my OX66’s Thanks Andrew

Equivalent to a J16 Carolina Skiff?

I am researching a work boat for my work. I have a J16 Carolina Skiff and thought that would be a good application for what I am looking for. I was surprised to learn Carolina Skiff no longer makes the bare hulls for tiller control and to build out yourself. The dealer said the bare hulls were...

Need input on 98 272 Sailfish Yamaha Binnacle/throttle.

I find my throttles very touchy when trying to sync them also. I replaced the cables due to one breaking last season and there was no change after as far as syncing the motors. There is very little adjustment otherwise. If they are the original OX66's, under the cowl there is a plastic...

Will your Grady float if capsized or swamped?

These photos were posted here a few years ago and also on THT. I don't know the story but had them saved in my phone for reassurance of the claimed positive buoyancy. Looking at them the boat does not appear fully swapped though, not sure if anyone see has the actual story and outcome. A...

OX66 225 "stumbling" when running over 3500 rpm

With the filter that dirty it may be worth sending the injectors out to be serviced if you have time to have the boat OOS or after the season. I have used fuelinjectorman.com in the past and his turnaround time was pretty quick, but there are others out there too.

    OX66 Overheat Question

When you say replace the water pump, are you referring to the housing? I usually replace the housing every year as well, but the kit come with a new cup that the impeller sits in also.

    OX66 Overheat Question

So I replaced the water pump, inspected the new thermostats, and poppet valve. I put a cork in the water pickup tube while the lower unit was off and poured a gallon of white vinegar into the thermostat housing hole. Let it sit for awhile and drip out and then used a garden hose to flush it in...

    OX66 Overheat Question

Where the pump does not look horrible and the poppet checks ok I took out the new thermostat and there was some crud around it. I am starting to think the cooling jackets are clogged but not sure. I hate to take the head off to find nothing, and the 4th right around the corner. If it does seem...

OX66 225 "stumbling" when running over 3500 rpm

Sounds like the filter in the VST tank. Make sure to get a VST gasket also, they stretch easily and make it hard to get back in place. If it was real dirty might be worth send injectors out to be cleaned also, most places have a quick turn around time.

    OX66 Overheat Question

Here is a photo of the water pump. Worn a little, but would this cause a weak stream? Doesn’t look that bad. The poppet check out fine I am also going to look at the voltage regulator itself since the stream passes though that. I know those can clog at times. Motor had new thermostats also...

99 Sailfish remote oil tank pump

Remove the livewell in the transom. The oil tanks are under there. There is some plumbing that had to be removed also that can be accessed in the plate on the transom wall to get the livewell out. I had to buy new fittings since the plastic was brittle and snapped.

    OX66 Overheat Question

I am on the boat now. The tell tale is a little weaker in effected motor at idle. Maybe a second delay on startup. The poppet valve in place is the half moon style, so it can only go in one way. The poppet valve has been in place a few seasons now. Anything over 12-1500rpms the motor runs at...
