Figured I would just unhook the safety before I leave the dock so once on sight, I'll be ready to drop anchor without going forward. Or it can be done on slow approach to the sandbar so when in position I can just drop anchor. Any number of ways to release the safety without dealing with the anchor.

Still playing with windlass all weekend, the Fortress FX-11 is just to light to get the chain to pull out of the locker without help. After watching some videos on different anchors, I ordered a Mantus 17# anchor for the windlass. Having to go forward to nudge the anchor off the roller...

I'm 5 1/2 hrs away from Lake Erie, this is at the marina where we stay. 7 1/2 hrs to lake in South Carolina.

Once it's mounted and you hang the kicker on it, let us know if the swim platform flexes any. Looking at going to a kicker for walleye fishing but was looking at the Pooderbuilt mount which is more expensive but has a bracket that goes under the platform for support.

Friday was a blowout for sure. Saturday was better but water churned up had the walleye finicky, Sunday, wind came back up and still nothing. Nice day on the water regardless. Better than work.

Got in late last night. I'll get pictures this evening. I ran from under helm up under walk-around and zip tied to existing nav light wires that were already mounted under walk-around and straight into anchor locker and to the actuator.

Well after playing with the anchor yesterday, I guess the Fortress FX-11 is a little light to get the chain to start freefalling. It takes a little nudge to get it going. I'll mess with it awhile before I change to a heavier, different one on or put the tilt roller on it.
