Publius; Funny you should tell that story. I fished for shark(unsuccessfully) back in the 70's off Sarasota, and the Capt. told me as we were goin' out Sarasota Pass the same thing.. Apparently he and his buddy would fly up-and-down the coast from St' Pete to Venice and see sharks galore...
