    Need to Troubleshoot Front Bilge

Successfully replaced both devices and it went smoothly overall except the piece that both items were attached to. I was thinking they adhered the piece to the hull and just used small screws to attach the pump and switch. Unfortunately, they were about 1in screws used to connect the pump to...

    Need to Troubleshoot Front Bilge

Thanks... When removing the screws, my assumption is that filling the old hole up is more precautionary. Reason I ask is because the boat is in the water and I want to make sure unscrewing it won’t result in a bigger headache.

    Need to Troubleshoot Front Bilge

Ok - So I will be replacing this tomorrow and have a few questions. 1. As of now, I do not see where either the float and bilge pump were spliced/ connected to the wires running to the switch and battery. Is there any concern with where I cut the wires then? Thinking of cutting in a way to...

    Seafarer 228 Handling Advice

Thanks for all the feedback... Yes, I do have trim tabs and need to learn how to use them better. I feel that I have to be more aggressive than with my prior boat to get the bow to correct it’s leaning one side vs the other. I never used trim tabs though to raise or lower the bow, just the...

    Seafarer 228 Handling Advice

For those that have a 228, I would like some feedback on your experiences and tips on how it handles. 1. Its been almost 20 years since I had my last boat (22 Wellcraft WA), but never had issues with docking. With the 228, I am docking at the same location and same approach but have already...

    Heading out in a bit

At what RPM did the alarm sound? Mine did the same after getting the impeller, thermostats, etc done in the off-season. However, seems to only happen when we are idling in gear, but goes away the moment I adjust the trim and/ or increase the throttle slightly. Hasn’t happened since the first...

    Need to Troubleshoot Front Bilge

Ok, just tested it all again.... Switch open: 12.55v switched closed: - Before switch: 10.24 - After switch: 10.23 Assuming it’s most likely the pump??? Haven’t cut it yet to do the final test Looks like my breaker is only 5 amps, so I need to get a 7.5amp when I replace the pump...

    Need to Troubleshoot Front Bilge

Following up to this thread, I believe I confirmed that its the bilge pump that is the problem. - Twisted the wires to the float and the bilge did not turn on - Tested the voltage to the switch when the circuit is open and had 12v - Tested the voltage leaving the switch when the circuit is...

    Need to Troubleshoot Front Bilge

Thanks for the feedback. Plan to troubleshoot this tomorrow. I also found the fuse by the battery and the specs in the manual. If needed, for replacement, what’s the thoughts on the switch w/o case vs the one with the case? Going to buy Rule and not sure if the holes for the existing case...

    Need to Troubleshoot Front Bilge

For a 2000 Seafarer 228, is there a way to tell which fuse is for the front bilge pump? I know the two wires of interest are the brown/ red and brown/ black. Right now, the switch lights up when I turn it on but hear nothing from the bilge pump so I need to figure if the pump is done, fuse...

228 Seafarer re: Stern Seat back cushions

With my 2000 228 Seafarer, I am trying to figure out how the stern seat back cushions were supposed to be connected to the boat. Outside of the two holes to slide them into, I am nervous that this is not enough and they may fly off under cruising speeds. There seems to be a swivel locking...

    Floor board sealing (or not)

Thanks for sharing! I was going to add this to my list as a priority but I’ll wait to later in the year to take a look at mine. As long as there is a lip like yours, I am good.

    2000 Seafarer Windsheld Wiper replacement

Were these for both windshields? I measured 16 on both sides but someone else had two different sizes. I have a 2000 but looks like the wiper blade snaps into the arm in multiple locations. Pics looks like that’s the case but not sure.

    Floor board sealing (or not)

Before I go too crazy with the silicone, does this area by the captains chair have silicone on yours? This is a pic from someone I found online but doesn’t look like it. Mine looks like it wore away but not sure if that floor area should be left open to drain or closed off so water can’t seep in

    Another Battery Question

Crazy how everything comes full circle. I remember seeing a random battery cable when I bought the boat but just left it as I figured I would address it when I took both batteries out. Ended up leaving that one in and focused my attention on the 2nd one since it was dead. when I winterize...

    Another Battery Question

Problem solved.... Unfortunately, I bought a new battery this morning to then learn it was not a battery problem. Turns out that even though the 2nd battery had two connectors, the crossover to the 1st battery was not connected. It was hidden behind a bunch of cables running around. Lesson...

Thanks for all the feedback. My plan is to go through the list tomorrow and see what the issue is.

    Another Battery Question

Ok...I’ll give that a try. Battery seemed completely dead in the boat as I couldn’t get any gauges or electronics to turn on prior to attempting to start the engine. Then seeing the test result at the store completely confused me as I can’t see how it could have recovered within 18 hrs
