    2021 228 electronics

Ah, the new boat smell of VOCs! I have an icom 504 radio up top with an Alpine marine stereo on a Gimbal. I have a 9 inch Garmin 942xs plus in the helm ebox on a gimbal. you could go 10 or even 12 in it. I still have an old school airmar m260 shoot through the hull 50/200 transducer. Garmin...

Cool looking new product from Garmin - Garmin GPSMAP 943xsv

Nothing is more frustrating as being a consumer of electronics. In February of 2020 I bought the latest 9 inch model from Garmin , the 942xs Plus. It had an upgraded processor and is faster than 942 xs , a port to connect directly to my Yamaha and there was something else to it. In 8 short...

Having trouble with switches on my 225Tournament.

The bow light fixture, like everyone else said, is the place to start. The bulb connection and socket is the place to start. My bulbs routinely became intermittent and it was annoying . I replaced them with sealed LEDs and it works great now .

    Repower

question, does the boat have a hard top? Where do you boat and how do you use the boat? meaning fishing, cruising, water sports, sand bar etc and with how many people. These will all determine if 200 is enough. it might be fine knowing those variables will help folks give you better input .

    Taxes

Simple..Buy the boat and register it in New Hampshire, but only for 1 year. Next year when the renewal expires , transfer the registration to Florida. They tag you with the tax difference if you register it within the first 6 months of a new purchase. They only know when you bought the boat...

    New VHF Options

I had a Standard Horizon black box in my 192. worked great ..I love Garmin products, but as far as VHF goes I am either Icom or Standard in large part because my dad was a ham and both those brands in his ham shack , Yaesu is Standard Vertex ham division. He also had their rigs in his car too...

Ok, my boat is down at Hystocraf in South Carolina and soon will getting the blisters repaired. I decided to epoxy barrier coat and then use petit's vivid bottom paint. I spoke with Hydocraf about white . They said it can yellow some. They also said it's coverage is terrible . I don't want...

    Valentine's PSA

I would add if you want chocolate buy local from a local chocolatier, not Walmart ! lol. Don't buy from Sherie either get your berries local. In these days support your local businesses more than the interwebs.

    What am I missing

You got solid advice here. I replaced that push button switch 2 or 3 times over a few years ownership and said, screw it and bought an OEM Grady LED touch light for courtesy and spreader . It was like $145 but to me well worth it and traded the halogen spreaders for LED. The current draw is...

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

I run my plotter in statute miles because in many places I boat inland have regulations in speed in MPH and not knots. my Grady gets about 3.2 miles per gallon with a 4.2 liter F250. In the ocean it can drop to 2.25 to 2.75 depending on sea state of course. I was surfing this post and the...

    Float switch recommendations

When I get my boat back from Hydro Craf and I am thinking I am going to replace all the washdown hoses and live well hoses . While I am in there I was thinking of replacing my bilge pump and float switch, both are OEM and actually work. The float switch in bumpy seas sometimes gets stuck in...

    EPIRB's

I bought an in reach last year. I got the explorer model as I like to hike and mountain bike . it's a great all around device plus it's got charts and topos on it too. They make a marine one specifically with their G3 vision charts and they make one called in reach mini which interfaces with...

    EPIRB's

I have an ACR RescueLink 406 PLB and added a Garmin In Reach with SOS as well. Two years ago those boys took their 19 footer out of Fort Lauderdale . They got into the Gulfstream just a few miles offshore and their boat was found capsized floating near Bermuda. The boys were never found. a...

    96 Tournament 192 Repower

I had a 1998 192 which came with a Johnson Ocean Pro 150. I bought it used. I repowered in 2004 with a Yamaha 150 four stroke. I had zero issues and the boat just hummed with that motor. I think you're over thinking it some.

My boat is at that age

You service the bilge pump by removing the live well. knock on wood, I still have a functioning OEM bilge pump and float switch.. This spring I am looking to replace the float switch and pump plus all the hoses. I am looking at those electronic sensor based switches versus the mechanical...

My boat is at that age

That's a great question Glacier. Would Grady just have solid top and no live well ? They could easily just insert it ,the live well , without it being plumbed for a pump but gave the drain ? My boat came with it , so I just assumed all Grady's come with a live well, but not all come with a...
