    1994 Explorer repower

If you end up going with the used 2-Stroke I can say I was shocked how easy it was to rig on my old Offshore. I took the old carb Yamaha off and put on an OX66. Everything lined right up easy. I ran the new harness and gauges just because the new motor came with them. It was my first time...

    Deep in 84 Grady rebuild

I love seeing the rebuild photos, I would love to tackle one someday but afraid my ADHD will kick in and have an unfinished project. Hats off to you guys that get them done! I use photobucket.com but there are others too. Upload the photos there and then copy and paste the IMG code into the...

    Why is my 94 sailfish a 27'

The sailfish was a 25' up until 1993, they came with or without a bracket. Your boat is the first year they made the integrated bracket for the outboards. I believe Grady tried calling it a 25 still, but I think I read somewhere the USCG said they had to call it a 27. Most marinas will charge...

New to the board- Sailfish 272 ?s

Congrats on the boat! This will be my second year with my 272, but I have had a bunch of Yamaha OB's. If it is an OX66 I would recommend sending the injectors out to be cleaned. Those motors will run forever with a clean fuel system and cooling system. I would also consider replacing all the...

Locating the O2 Sensor on Yamaha OX-66 225 HP

One is between the block and the part the O2 sensor actually screws into and the other is around the plastic cover. I am pretty sure this is the correct kit, but be sure to check the part number with your model motor. I would imagine they are all the same but never know...

Locating the O2 Sensor on Yamaha OX-66 225 HP

I bought the gasket kit, it has two gaskets that will need to be replaced after removed. If you unbolt the housing that that sensor screws into first, a few open ended wrenches will remove the sensor pretty easy, and then you can get to the sniffer tube to clean that as well. After...

    Re Engine Sailfish 25

I would be curious so what the dealer is going to do for $7500 for those motors. If they turn over and have good compression there is not too much to them, a ton of info here and THT on the yamaha's to get them running great. Clean out the carbs, replace the gas lines from the tank (no matter...

    Questions need help

Congrats on the Sailfish! I love my 272. I would email Grady for the owners manual, they should get right back to you and that will answer a lot of your questions. There are two tanks, the switch on the dash should just run the gauge, on my 1999 there are manual valves in the rear by the fuel...

    Hydraulic Steering

I thought you might have been referring to the tie-bar setup. I have some of the extension arms for the "old tie bar" system. I do not have that part. What I do remember when I put a newer motor on my Offshore, that arm would not come out and needed a new one too.

    Hydraulic Steering

My sailfish only has one hydraulic cylinder for both motors and it steers fine. As far as capping off the second set of old hydraulic lines, I would say you should hook them together so the fluid can flow, but that is just a guess. I would look into setting the new motors up as the old ones...

Still can't get length of Sailfish

Having a little bit of extra trailer will not hurt I would imagine, as long as you can move the axels to center the load. The new trailer I bought was of "the right length" but a little bigger would not have hurt. Also Cataumet Boats, since you are also in MA, was able to help me confirming...

    Steering is hard

Mine moved with ease. From what I remember they would turn on their own with the slight angle of the boat in the driveway when trimmed down. Any "stiffness" I would think would be a problem. Maybe try and work it with PB Blaster or another penetrating oil over a few days?

    Steering is hard

That could have something to do with it also. I would defiantly look into the tie bar system though. When you disconnect the piston from he steering arm and the tie bar bracket each motor should turn side to side with ease, my boat was on a slight tip in the driveway and the motor would turn...

    Steering is hard

It looks like your issue is very similar to a problem I had with my new to me 1999 sailfish this season. It looks like you have two different steering setups on the motor, the old and the new SeaStar system and they do not work well together. I only found this out after the piston fell off and...

Grady, Seacraft, and Whaler Restoration Photos and Link

A friend is having his 23 Seacraft worked on at Metan Marine in Halifax, MA and I was with him on a visit last week. Its a small shop but they do unbelievable work. They actually build new replica whalers and have a few Seacraft builds. I was going through their Facebook page and found a...

    Yamaha 200 2 Stroke

Sorry to hear the grim news. The good thing is that running Yamaha OX66 takeoffs seem to run around 5-6k for a pair. Those for $4k was the cheapest I have seen. If you are mechanically incline at all it is not that bad of a job if you have the means of lifting the motors. Good Luck!

    Yamaha 200 2 Stroke

Hope the problem isn't as bad as it sounds. If you can get it to turn over I would run a compression check. Try to turn the motor by hand with the plug wires off and see if it moves in either direction. If not see if you can see any obvious major damage through the plug holes, even better if you...

Hello and trailer selection help needed

I bought a new venture trailer for my 272 sailfish. I bought the trailer from EMI marine in PA, no one could touch their prices and I was coming back from that area on a trip to the outer banks, so it was worth it for me. Venture is a lower end trailer, but I only tow 3-4 miles 2-3 times a...

Twin 225 OX66 Steering Woes, 272 Sailfish, UPDATE FIXED!

Re: Twin 225 OX66 Steering Woes, With Photos! UPDATE FIXED! Got the new parts and got everything installed last night and this morning. Everything looks and works great! If anyone has any problems with their old setup, this was a pretty easy install, although it was the root of my problems, I...
