    Realistic 272 Sailfish Review

Thanks for e reply. Sometimes it is hard to determine the quality of some reviews especially on another boating forum that will remain nameless. Some just jump to any less than perfect aspect of a boat and dwell on that. I hope to find something over the winter, I do not plan on selling my...

    Realistic 272 Sailfish Review

My family and I really enjoy my '86 Grady Offshore with the 225 OX66 on it for almost all of our boating needs. The boat is on a mooring and we mainly travel a short distance to the beaches of Vineyard Sound on Cape Cod with the occasional jump over to Martha's Vineyard. With that being said we...

    Tournament Preformance?

It actually already has them. Once they are set it can easily level out but in a slow turn the stern of the boat sinks down scary low to one side. My father thought it was my driving which was causing the issue but after he drove he realized it was the boat. It is not a bad boat, but...

    Tournament Preformance?

My father and I learned that there are advantages of haveing a larger boat and a smaller boat for the waterways we visit. After I found my Grady Offshore a 19' Pursuit dual console popes up for sale at a fair price. We went and looked at it and we loved the interior layout with all the floors...

    Tarp Damaged Gelcoat, Help!

Thanks for the replies. I will check in with my local dealer this week. The damage was over a 2-3' length along the edge of the tarp, doesn't look like the grommet had much to do with it. The boat was parked on an angle close to the house which must have made for the tarp flapping, and since it...

    Tarp Damaged Gelcoat, Help!

I was down the Cape working on the boat yesterday after uncovering it a few weeks ago. I uncovered it quick and didn't do too much else that day. Yesterday when I was walking around the boat something caught my eye. When I looked closer I saw the gel coat is chipped like it was sand blasted...

Offshore Rear Drains - One More Question!l

With the help here and a few other forms I found a good tutorial on how to replace these tubes. Since he boat is on Cape Cod and I live over an hour away I was wondering if anyone knows what size they are. I am leaning towards 1 1/4" but just want to be sure before I order everything. Thanks...

Offshore Rear Drains - One More Question!l

Re: Offshore Rear Drains Thanks! That photo looks like you did a real nice job on them. I was debating dropping it off at the dealer to have the injectors serviced since this is my first year with this motor and adding this tithe list. I think I will attempt it myself though, I am pretty handy...

    Thru-hull replacement '97 Gulfstream

I did them on my '86 offshore. Shop around online for the Perko fittings. I was going to go brass or stainless but I figured e plastic ones lasted 20 years the first time and they would be fine to replace with the same again. The 90 degree ones for me were simply the same straight ones with the...

Offshore Rear Drains - One More Question!l

I was looking to replace the 4 drains on the rear of my 1986 Offshore open rear transom. My transom appears to be in solid condition, I had a surveyor inspect it prior to purchase 2 years ago and he said there was nothing to worry about and it look great. I just unscrewed the rear scuppers and...

    Yamaha OX66 help needed

Did you make sure yiu got the bolts under the cavitation plate. There is one under the zinc and there might be 1 or 2 more from memory making 8-9 total. I can scan you some pages out of the service manual too to rule the float switches out.

    Yamaha OX66 help needed

It might be worth checking the trim sensor one the bracket of the engine. The remote oil tank will not fill the main tank if it senses the motor it tilted up, so even if the pump works it will not call for oil. The lights on the dash work off a ground side switch, I had a problem with the wire...

    Few questions. '90 Seafarer - Thru-hull fittings.

I cut the barbs off the ones I need to use the 90 degree fitting on. I left a little bit of the barb so I didn't damage the threads making it harder the thread on the fitting. The fitting under the passenger foot well was by far the hardest for me. I accidently broke the fitting in the floor...

Offshore Listing, Trim Tabs or something else

Both tabs failed in the full up position. It is the hydraulic insta trim system. Not sure the wind direction but it kept listing to the same side no matter direction of travel. Thinking the boat is riding on one side of the hull and not the center. Just wondering if this is a known...

Offshore Listing, Trim Tabs or something else

I took the boat for its last ride today before pulling her for the winter. I had some motor problems this year and did not get too much use until I found a new to me yamaha 225 which now runs great. I was in 1-2' seas with nothing crazy for wind and an evenly loaded boat and it kept listing hard...

    1986 Offshore Transom Questions

I am sure this has been discussed a lot here but when I did a search it said the word transom was too common, wonder why hah! Well I have always wanted a Grady since I was a little kid and my father owned the boats, the the tide has shifted and I am the boat owner and he is the passenger on my...

    '86 Offshore Repower Problem, converting a 30" shaft to a 25

I bought a 1986 Offshore this time last year with its original 200hp Yamaha on an open transom. Over the winter I found a fair deal on a 1999 Yamaha 225hp OX66 with 0 hours on a rebuild and a 1 year warranty and figured how could I go wrong, RIGHT! I repowered the boat with the 225 and the...

Oil Primer Pump 1986 Offshore 24

I am a new Grady owner after wishing to own one for a long time. I bought a 1986 Offshore with the original 200hp Yamaha all in remarkable good condition. All of the previous owners took great care of the boat and it shows. I since found a 1999 Yamaha OX66 225hp with a rebuilt top end and 1...
