fresh water sink and hose issue? Voyager 248

The filter/screen threads onto the intake side of the pump body. It is likely blocked. Funny how only the Voyagers are having this issue this year! :bang

    250HP OX66 Surging at 3700rpm

Imo a bad O2 sensor can contribute to surging. If the O2 sensor is bad the engine runs the richest air/fuel mixture possible. This means the fuel pumps are nearly running at full capacity under load trying to keep up. If a pump is bad, the high pressure pump gets starved for fuel, thus surging...

    250HP OX66 Surging at 3700rpm

Definetly DO NOT use any air tool! We ground the circumference of a socket down until it fit. Ne problems removing the sensor then.

Bayrat Aside from wot speed with the new mounting height, the info is in the threads.

1999 Voyager - raising engine results

I don't have measurements, but you can see the bottom of the hull is just above the water intake or about 1.5-2" below the cavitation plate.

1999 Voyager - raising engine results

Amongst the furry to get in the water and under way, I didn't get any measurements or photos. I did however have the chance to run with 3 adults about 20 miles round trip through about 1.5 ft chop following and 2 ft chop head. With the engine trimmed 3 bars from full down and no tabs, the boat...

1999 Voyager - raising engine results

Thanks for all the ideas. The Voyager has a euro transom, no bracket. The transom is dry. The tank is original. I will get a photo with some measurements, but it likely won't be till the weekend.

1999 Voyager - raising engine results

This is the original engine rigged by the factory. I achieve 5500 RPM's WOT and actually have a slightly better top end speed compared to what Grady got in salt water: our result 45mph (GPS) at 5500rpm vs 43mph and 5500rpm. W/ 4 adults this boat doesn't jump on plane, but it is far from being...

1999 Voyager - raising engine results

This is step 1 of maybe 2 in the quest of a better ride. We decided to do this after being frustrated with the poor ride characteristics of this hull and the configuration we have: single 225, no hard top, no second fuel tank. As for the ride issues, this is what we were experiencing: -...

Raising engine. Any 1st hand experience?

The engine came off without too much difficulty. I am grateful to have the guys at the rack allow me to use their tow motor to help out! The sealant in place was the consistency of 5200 and did a heck of a job of bonding the bracket to the transom. I little lifting and some muscle popped it...

Raising engine. Any 1st hand experience?

I'm going to be raising my engine soon. I have concerns that the 5200 used between the engine and transom could make it a tough separation. Any tips? Also, I used a small amount of 5200 from the tube and made sure all the air was purged prior to capping it. The tube states all adhesive must be...

outboard power for 24' offshore 225 vs. 250

There is a reputable company in PA that rebuilds outboards and also provides a warranty with every engine. I have seen etecs on their site. If my ox66 ever crapped out, I know where I would be looking to spend my $ $. As for the power, I'd go for efficiency. I strongly suspect the reason why...

    OX66 RPMS dropping???

My experience over the years has been most ox66 issues are fuel related. If your gas is not old, check low pressure fuel pumps. A ruptured diaphragm will cause a rich condition resulting low, smoky idle and surging at higher rpm's. If this condition has existed for a while, your O2 sensor may be...

    Freshwater Washdown 248 Voyager

Check your filter connected to the pump. It is likely blocked and will block again if you don't flush out the tank and line. I've got that issue to deal with now too!

Looking for new trailer Grady 248 Voyager, NC?

GW has the info for basic set-up. They gave it to me for a trailer I just bought. If not set up for your hull, some final adjustments will be needed to make it fit 100% correctly even with the info from Grady.

    Substitute for seastart steering fluid?

Sea star actually provides info on alternatives. All the alternatives are aviation grade oil and all are red in color to make finding leaks obvious. The downside is the oil could permanently stain gelcoat if it isn't cleaned-up quickly.

    Pioneer Boats

I've scratched my head about the transom cap topic bc way back in 99 the Voyagers were capped with glass. I wonder if some models didn't get this or if many assume the aluminum cap means nothing underneath changed.?
