    Question about prep

I would approach them about it,but I will say this. Sometimes we need to be clear especially if there is any doubt that creeps in.. you assumed what you communicated was understood in what they were expected to do. In this case they didn't understand what you wanted. I think it's everything...

    F250 Overheating Issue & Question

I notice you are in Maryland and given the time of year, I think it's too early for dolphin up your way. I could be wrong. My first thought you trolled through some sargasso weed and got some clogged in your pickups . The other thought is you need either a new water pump or your t stat is not...

    2015 Seafarer 226 - Thoughts???

Hey now those are fight'n words in regards to how the 228 Handles versus the 226. I have run my 228 to the Bahamas, Dry Tortugas, fished the Gulf Coast off of Cape San Blas and PMC Beach, routinely fish it out of Port Canaveral down to Stuart. We go to the Keys almost annually. I love how the...

How much abuse can my canvas take?

I routinely trailer a couple times of year from NC to Florida. I recall one trip I "forgot" to remove them and left the front curtains up. I was driving in the predawn hours on 95 through the salt marsh section in Georgia near Brunswick. We hit a swarm of bugs for a few miles. My front...

    T-Top outriggers for 273 chase?

On the flip side if it has those issues you can use it to negotiate a better price. Once the repair is made, it's now done right. If you are going to trailer the boat, you could get some Tacos with telescoping poles. I have some Tacos and my boat is only 6 inches narrower than the boat you...

    Old GW questions

I think by 1996 the 192 had a Seev2 hull. I had a 98 192 and it did. My brother had the 190 and it was a fine craft. I rode on it in the early 90s and don't remember much about the ride quality because I was in college and was just happy being on a boat. Lol. My 192 rode great for a 19...

    Looking at the weather

Here is the secret of a Grady. They have variable dead rise geometry which means unlike a standard deep v which maintains say 24 degrees along most of the hull, our boats with Seav2 hulls progressively get steeper. What this means is those trim tabs are not just for balancing out the load they...

    Grady White 228 Pilot House

To be fair, y'all got to admit for a 1987 vintage craft she is ,by all accounts based on photographic evidence and with full disclosure of having never seen the boat in person nor hired a surveyor, that this boat is in really good shape. How many 87 boats are still in service for other brands ?

    Pre Purchase Question

They call it STAIN-LESS not stain proof for a reason.. lol. That is a good hull and you will enjoy that boat a great deal.

OEM or after market in your boat repairs

I run a single and never go cheap on any motor components. So, I replaced my fuel fill hoses and Sea Star Helm. I bought MPI because it's what Grady uses and not Seirra or West Marine brand hoses. It's that kind of stuff I am suggesting here. I tried to find a good folding LED mast light...

    Garmin Inreach

I was looking at the Se model Skunk. My new plotter has an Inreach screen and you can use the plotter as the keyboard and display when paired with it. I like the idea of getting it for a couple reasons like when I am 30-50 off I can communicate directly with people in case something goes wrong...

OEM or after market in your boat repairs

Many here bought their Grady new and many bought them used. I have had my current boat since 2009 when I bought her new. This past season I have had a number of things needing replaced. There are a few schools of thought I have. I can go OEM and order Grady parts through a dealer or I can...

Repower of Grady White 25 Sailfish

You could go etec or you could go F200 twins which are 489 pounds a piece . You would be shaving almost 400 pounds.

    Garmin Inreach

Last year in April my fit brother turned 59. He is very fit and gets 300 miles a month a bicycle. He was in the Talladega National Forest and suffered a massive heart attack. He was airlifted to Birmingham and had 100% blockage of his primary coronary artery. He survived and is back at mountain...

    touch dome lights

Um, no. Lol. The switched lights were or are far from ideal. I switched from the push button switched light Grady installed to the Grady Lumitec switch with spreader light control. I love them.

    Looking at the weather

I wouldn't fish that in your boat. I have fished 4-6 in the Keys and Bahamas and it was a pain in the butt. 3-5 in my opinion is the most tolerable sea state for any boat 40 feet or under. The other side of the equation is the wind driven chop on top of the sea state. The period of the sea...

Tips on how a Grady handles?

I don't have twins ,but I have kept my boat in a slip at numerous places with a ride. You need to know how low and high the tide is for your area. I was, for instance , kind of surprised at the tide height in Hilton Head Islands main marina . I did not stay there over night but docked there...

What's the deal... A story of two boats and vinyl

If you have a commercial sewing machine that can do bigger weights of thread ,bigger needle and such, I suppose you could do it by yourself. I got quoted $175 for each bolster and $150 for the seat backs. It's a fraction of the costs buying new. I would think the upholstery people are...

    Anchor advice

I have read reports on the Fentress aluminum anchors. All have said a great product. I bent the shank and my current one takes a Jedi Knight skill set to get it to set right. Otherwise it will drag. I could attempt to bend it back but bending it back just weakens it.
