I was having the same prob alot of the members were complaining about. I was reading 1/8 full when I had just refueled. I have the Yamaha guages in my cockpit. Bottom line the fuel sender was shot. I called both Grady and Yamaha, and the part was not sold by either. I called a company...

winterizing/tuneup prices, services, etc.- lots of questions

...beginning of next season. Should I also do it when I winterize? Seems like that would be a waste. Anything else I'm missing? My Yammy fuel guage is reading incorrect fuel level and I'll need that fixed too. I may try to just replace the guage myself, and if the guage is not the problem...

    Fuel Guage Accuracy

I have a 98 268 Islander, and recently noticed that the fuel quantity reading is inaccurate. Although I have topped off the tank to almost overflowing, the guage reads about 1/2. It has one gas tank, and previosuly seemed to work fine. I cleaned the electrical connection at the tank sensor, no...

    2 stroke oil tank question

No replies to my message - spent hours searching the internet trying to find an answer - and didn't. I remembered that the bulb was hard when I brought the boat home from having the new engine installed and figured that thate situation was close to what I had so I tried. Lowered the lift until...

    Yamaha Guages Failed

Guys, I could use some help. My guages quit working. I went to use the boat on Friday and when I turned the keys there was no display on the guages but the engines started and ran fine. I then shut down the engines and turned the keys on again. This time only the speed/fuel and the port engine...

Technical Questions about Yami Gas Guage on Cockpit Panel

...and I get a display with one bar, the tank on the lowest level, and a blinking symbol for fuel telling me that I am empty before I even start out. The engine runs fine. Sending unit, fuel guage, or something I didn't do when I refueled? Feel free to call if you like, number is below...

    I bought a new 205 Tournament

Thanks but I think I found a place local to let me try a few. I think I will try with Bimini down 1st and see what I what kind of rpms I get. I appreciate your offer. Like you said more horses but to much money. I also have felt that chatter just like you bump up the rpms.

    I bought a new 205 Tournament

Thanks for the input Chris. I actually have a new aluminum prop (spare) but never thought about trying it to see what diference it would make in rpm's..duh! Until recently I was considering moving up to a bigger boat but with fuel prices the way they are that's not happening. A friend of...

    I bought a new 205 Tournament

Greg, it probably is a black stainless. They are fairly common and a good prop. Certainly stronger than an aluminum. The down side to a harder prop is there is a greater risk to damage to the engine itself instead of the prop if you hit something. But they will take running through the mud or...

    Fuel tank sending unit question

Can anyone tell me if my sending unit has gone bad or not. When I jump the wires at the tank my guage reads half full, I would of thought it would read full. Also the test light is dim, I've checked all the grounds and the power conections and all seem good. Any advise would be great. Hunter

    Adding Fuel Tank?

...to trailer the boat to the pump or winterizing) Do they make hard installed fuel tanks that can be retrofitted and if so how? The boat is a 1976 175 Duke. The boat has a fuel guage and a filler neck but no onboard tank, which I find wierd. Thank you in advance for any help. Regards...

    Fuel Mgmt retrofit

Your GPS manufacturer may also have a fuel flow 'plug-in'. Garmin just came out with their GFS-10 which costs about half the Yamaha guage you're looking at. I suspect other manufacturers will follow. Rob

    209 Escape Questions

I have a 2005 209 with a 2005 200 HPDI out of Fire Island Inlet. Great boat / engine combo. It's a heavy, solid 20' boat that handles the sea very well for its size. FI Inlet can get nasty with the right combination of current and wind. This boat can hold her own. With a T-top and deluxe...

    Battery/wiring problem... bad ground?

...concerned. I am still trying to troubleshoot why my engine stalls at idle. I recently installed an inline fuel sensor for a Northstar fuel guage. I also replaced one of the fuel lines as well as the fuel filter on the engine. I can only hope that it is something as simple as a slight...

2000 Yamaha 200HP HPDI Good motor?

That is hard to guess but it should be close in comparison to the 265 express with 200 HPDI's, your best mpg should be maybe 1.7mpg at best, but I'd say more like 1.5mpg which for a boat that size and with that beam is very good. It will vary with conditions and how you trim the boat out, but...

    Islander Repower in Progress

Cool. What are your numbers? Are you happy with it? It's probably been covered before, but can somebody go over pros and cons for the stepped hull and the newer full-length running surface? I'm looking at a few of the older ones with the stepped hull. They all have OX66's on them. I...

    Islander Repower in Progress

Mine is 1 year old with 186 hours so its not a fair comparison on cost. After deducting the sale of my OX 66 250, the net cost is about $9500.

    Islander Repower in Progress

I've been looking at Islanders with a thought to repower with twin F150's. What's the installed cost on the 300 'zuke? I assume new controls and guage pack? Yes, definately want to hear performance numbers. REAL curious about fuel flow numbers.
