    NEW redesigned 2023 Adventurer!

I like the new layout with a few concerns. Number one is the vinyl covering on the top of the dash. I suspect that will get take a beating in the sun. Without seeing the boat, I am not sure how 'safe' the raft seat backs will be especially if kids are using them. They may be fine. The dual swim...

Live well Standpipe 1998 272 sailfish

If it is the type that you jam into the bottom plastic fitting, those are available in most marine stores as well as online. There are two dimensions you need to know, the diameter of the hole at the bottom of the tank and the length of the tube. The replacement tubes come in various lengths and...

    New Grady quality

Isn't it a little late to ask about quality?:) In the fall you can answer the question for all of us. Good luck with the boat!

One for the Yamaha 4 Stroke/Fuel System Gurus

If you have a small air leak, the engine will get a reduced fuel flow. As the fuel burn rate increases ( at speed and/or load), it will reach a point where the flow is less than the demand. Eventually the motor will starve for fuel. As demand goes down, the gas flow will resume at low loads. I...

    off season repairs planning.

How many boats that are not self bailing have you seen sink? I have seen a few. All you need is heavy rain ( or in some cases, snow) and a dead battery or dead bilge pump. No-one likes a wet deck but even with scuppers below the water line, any water in the deck that is higher than the outside...

    Trailer capacity

Too big can be an issue if the bow eye to transom measurement is outside the specs for the trailer. In that case, you may have to oad your boat more forward than you need and as a result the balance (and tongue weight) can be incorrect. So, bigger is better to a point:)

One for the Yamaha 4 Stroke/Fuel System Gurus

Note that if you have an air leak in the fuel delivery plumbing, you won't see any fuel leaks and probably won't smell gas. I suspect that either the separator filter or the on engine gas filter has a leak and most likely that is due to a poor sealing on the filter or cartridge resulting in...

    Trailer capacity

I think the rating is OK for storage and short relatively flat trips. You didn't account for the weight of fuel at 6.2 pounds per gallon. Add to that gear and maybe water and you will be at capacity. Typically you want to leave about a 10% margin but again, for short flat trips, it You need to...

    Grady 208 Bow Rail Diameter?

The moral is they you need to make better RASH judgements.

    2003 282 Windlass Question

It may help when you go out to give the chain a bit of slack, then on the ride out, drive over a few wakes or waves to shake the rigging. That may cause the anchor to loosen a tad. This problem is common. In cases where there isn't a pulpit, a hinged anchor roller can help the anchor deploy on...

    Grady 208 Bow Rail Diameter?

Great story. What was the width of the rash? With that info we can deduce the handrail diameter:)

Change shifter throttle cables anyone ?

Ditto on the control parts; Take pictures before each step of disassembly for later reassembly. Note that in addition to removing the cables from the control, you may need to remove panels at the helm to help pull new cables as well as pull out the old ones. The cables may also have a few...

There is definitely an access plate aft to get to the tank sender. If you pop that access plate you will see the sender flange and some of the tank. It will be obvious if the tank is poly, You may need to wipe off the grime though. I was going to comment about the person who said it was...

Dodge ecodiesel for towing (and stopping) a 228?

You might want to consider electric brakes with controller instead of surge. I think that stainless rotors are more important than being truck rotors especially if you boat in salt or brackish waters. Since you did such a detailed breakdown on weights, I bet you looked up the motor weight. That...

Are you saying that the deck has to be cut to remove the deck over the tank? That does add cost and labor to the job. I assume that this sponginess is something new in which case you need to decide what work makes sense. If you are selling, I wouldn't put money into it, just adjust the price for...

    Built in Head w/Macerator

Yes, there should be a seacock. It will probably have a bigger diameter than the other seacocks. That said, I am not sure what symptoms you are describing. Do you have the owners manual for that model? If not you can download it from the Grady site. Just Google grady white owners manuals. The...

    208 Adventure killed off?

A lot of folks miss the 228 option. I do agree that DCs are quite popular and offerings are getting longer and bigger. That said, I also see what seems to be a disproportionate (maybe I am wrong) number of large Freedoms up for sale. Both auto makers and boat builders are not that good at...

    Tilt and Trim Issue

The rod I referred to is called the lower shock mount pin. I had to look up its name:) Could be but not if the OP hears the trim motor running.
