Cost for thorough cleaning and ceramic coating interior/exterior 1988 22' Seafarer Cuddy Cabin

You maybe could ask for the hours estimate. Could assume maybe at least a few hundred goes to materials - you’d spend it if you did it yourself. So maybe $1400 or $1500 of the quote relates to hours. If $50 per hour, that’s 28-30 hours over three years. I’d bet they’d spend the better part of a...

Questions about buying a 228 Seafarer...

It seems to me the surveyors are just busy and pushing off the work, who knows. You could probably fly there and check it out. If you share the general location you might get some local assistance from the forum. Anything with good bones can be fixed, but of course you’re right to be diligent.

    Hardtop on a Tournament?

If that’s what you’re going for, go for it. If it makes it easier for you, if it makes you happy, enjoy it. I am simply offering a different opinion that you all may disagree with, which is perfectly fine from my perspective. Feel free to ignore my rambling or take it for what it’s worth…...

    Hardtop on a Tournament?

Sorry, but as I’m reading back through the tread maybe I’m a bit confused with your plan… thread topic says hard top but then you say rigid soft top… agree rigid soft top would be similar weight to Bimini. A couple inch think fiberglass hardtop, with bolts, backing plates, on the other hand…...

    Hardtop on a Tournament?

ok so maybe an extra couple or few hundred lbs is negligible, yeah probably, but he already said his scuppers are sitting a bit low. I think it’s pretty obvious that a hardtop is going to add weight over a Bimini whatever that number is. In regard to value, maybe not decrease, but the cost no...

    Hardtop on a Tournament?

Fastexas - if you know someone with a good sewing machine, just get sunbrella fabric and uv resistant thread and you can make a replacement easily. JCB - I’d recommend selling the tournament and getting a different boat with the hardtop already done. It would be harder to resell with...

    Dive ladder mount plate

Yes, so things like a cleat would be under load and strain and would have some ‘wiggle’ against the deck so 4200 with some flex would be better. Something like windows are not under strain, so those frames are ideal for 5200 to seal in.

    Dive ladder mount plate

Good summary from Seasick. 4000/4200 has more flexibility than 5200 is my understanding. This was a helpful summary for me.

ECOS , new regulation, status update (with a smile)

As improbable as it seems, there are lots of interweb vids of rogue boats spinning in circles at high enough speeds that ultimately are hugely dangerous for anyone on the water, especially the coast guard, harbor patrol, etc that have to deal with the situation. It’s probably one of the more...

    Bow cover

Typically stuffing the bow is going over the crest of the wave with a following sea. I think going out you’re more likely to pound/slap the hull on the descent than stuff

    Quick Electrical Question

Agree might be a loose connector. Radios also often have a direct feed to the battery so when the switch is off, the station memory remains connected to the battery, so maybe that’s the backlight feed too

    Wanted: Seafarer 228 in SoCal

Many many boaters do not drive their trailer more than a few miles each year. I also thought like you until I hired a coast guard guy to help me launch with a f350 double rear tires on the truck and he explained how he prefers no brakes at all. A heavy truck is not going to feel it if the boat...
