Most boat builders essentially standardized for the 25” shaft for a single engine setup on a boat about 18’ or more. Something other than that is more unusual, unless you have twin engines (or more). If twin engines on a v hull, the props sit higher than the lowest point of the v so would be 20’...
Yeah, for me it’s a ‘when I really need it I want it’ or if CG boarded. I can’t actually recall a situation where i really needed it.
most use I see is when the little nieces and nephews figure out the horn switch until it gets too annoying for everyone else.
I’ve seen worse. You can probably fix up the old a bit and sell it for a decent price. I had some adventure getting my boat to the ramp - blew a bearing on the highway and limped it 6 miles on 3 wheels
In the Bay Area it’s quite salty and gets a fair amount of growth and the best here is Trinidad. Priced as liquid gold

My dad is happy with cheaper brands in...
I saw a video of a guy hauling a boat and he had rubber chocks on the front tires with ropes looped around his side mirrors so when he drove forward the chocks came with but would prevent the backslide. I haven’t tried yet but seemed like it would work.
there are longer extensions too. I agree...
Yes that’s why I assumed the prior owner did it. In the Bay Area we don’t get too much bad weather 10 months of the year, aside from the wind, but there is daily morning moisture. Winter storms sometimes get gnarly but it still has a hardtop too.
A neighbors cat got itself into my locked cabin a couple weeks ago at the marina. I had about 5 frantic calls and was on the way to the marina when the cat figured out how to get itself out. Still don’t know exactly how it did it, some serious gymnastics to squeeze through a gap.
I’d agree you’ve got some work ahead of you. I’m surprised the place doing the repower said the transom was good. Any of that in writing from them? Otherwise looks like a nice boat, so probably worth getting the work done.
