    Noobe Head Questions

The Sanipotti has a self contained waster tank, it's capacity depends on the model number as does the user operation process. All of the Sanipotti models have a waste tank that fills whatever is in the bowl when the 'flush' operation is performed. The waste tanks has a option to connect to a...

    Fresh Water Flush

In terms of the upper motor area, it doesn't really matter, up or down but what does matter is that when tilted down and in the water, the local sea water will flow into the lower unit. The general approach is to tilt up the engine, flush with fresh water and leave up till next outing. In cases...

Anyone ever shorten the factory battery cables on a Honda 150?

A 1 ft run doesn't get you very far. How can the motor connection be only 1 ft from the battery terminal? Is that cable the only one bolted to the battery terminal? You did say the motor is a 150 horse didn't you?

Anyone ever shorten the factory battery cables on a Honda 150?

That cable is most likely not a main battery cable. It is something else. The 610 stamp means it is a 6 gauge wire on a #10 bolt stud

Anyone ever shorten the factory battery cables on a Honda 150?

Why are you cutting the cables? In any case, the lugs on the existing cable should have the size stamped on it. You may need to cut back the heat shrink and look closely for a mark. If you see something like 2-3 that is 2AWG with 3/8 inch bolt hole. Here is an example...

    Freedom 225 gas gauge

If you have the CL7 display, there is a menu to calibrate the tank level sender(s). Here is a link to the manual, tank settings are on page 1 https://global.yamaha-motor.com/business/outboards/products/manuals/accessories/gauge/pdf/cl7/en-6ydom-e0-0c.pdf

f225 blowing water from exhaust port rear of engine above waterline.

My first question would be ;" Did that occur before the exhaust rebuild?" You probably didn't notice. My understanding is that those ports are dump ports and when there is more water flowing than the exhaust housing needs to cool, the water backs up and exits through those ports. So in general I...

    Starboard engine piss port

Lifespan depends on a few things: My Yamaha impellers last a lot longer than my Mercury impellers. The main reason for that I think is that the Mercury ones are a lot smaller than the Yamis. Where you boat makes a difference. If you suck sand and mud a lot, the impellers will wear out faster...

    Transom cracking

A plywood to plywood piece should not rely on a resin glue up only. The better approach is to use a layer or multiple layers of fiberglass between the plywood. That does two main things; It allows small pockets to be better sealed and more importantly it adds strength and rigidity to the...

helm chairs for 1997 208 adventure

The wobble can be caused by two things; a worn or missing pedestal bushing ( a cylindrical plastic sleeve that fits between the pedestal and the seat slider locking sleeve ) or more likely, the nylon seat slide bushings that fit between the two parts of the seat slider. There is a post on this...

Thinking about it again, I may be confusing the difficulty or changing/rebuilding the Yamaha poppet valve with a Mercury poppet valve. Those jobs just blend into one memory

    Hull color opinions

If you saw white underneath the scratches, I would suspect that the hull was painted. That assumes that Grady sprays the mold with the appropriate color before laying up the fiberglass. The fiberglass with resin would not look white if exposed I think. I vaguely remember in the early days of the...

    gps unit questions...

If you want/need to look at both sonar and navigation information on a split screen, you might find a 5 inch display is a non optimal option. You may be OK with two splits configured, one with mostly nav date and just a small sonar window for getting to your fishing spots and a second...

    Starboard engine piss port

Your poppet valve may be sticking open. That valve is trickier to replace/rebuild and can be a bit hard to get to. If you are not mechanically up to snuff, you might not want to tackle a rebuild of the poppet. A symptom of of an open poppet valve when it should be closed is over heating at low...
