    Poorly installed kicker??

Doesn’t look bad to me. Not sure I get why the mechanic says the cables are too short, seems there is some inches of extra play in the cables since they are wire tied up. I’d recommend removing the grommet and sealing up the exposed wood core area with epoxy - you definitely don’t want...

Local Grady White Dealer will not work on my Outboard

Great point on the mechanic training/experience. Every time I think maybe I’d hire someone for a minor thing, I think to myself, is the person actually working on it going to be smarter than me? Possibly. Will they care as much about my boat as I would? No. Would I learn through the process of...

Local Grady White Dealer will not work on my Outboard

Agree with others. It’s a consequence of a lot of demand at the beginning of the season, and probably a skilled labor shortage at the dealer. You can probably do the service yourself, learn a bit about your engine in the process.

    330 Cabin floor - Sanding/resealing

I think your best bet is getting clear epoxy to fill in (like west systems 105/207 combo). Similar to filling in gouges on the bottom of skis. Like seasick said most products used in a recent boat build aren’t sandable. You might be able to get some coloring to match it but probably wouldn’t be...

It’s a 4 cylinder engine. I have a 6 cylinder I/o and my WOT is 4000rpm. Your friend is probably just mixing apples and oranges.

    Dyeing cushions

This can be a DIY job for those with access to a decent sewing machine. All materials can be purchased for a fraction of the costs you all are mentioning. Talk to someone you know that sews and they’ll probably help you out. Also you don’t need or probably want sunbrella for cushions, it’s not...

They want your information too… I mean they might just ask for a deposit to hold for the prospective buyer until whatever illness or death in the family has subsided so they can finalize a ‘quick sale’ over the internet but by that time cash is cleared.

84- 20’ Overnighter Hull to Deck joint repair

Good point, although like you said it’ll stay soft for a while, I’ve found even beyond the 24 hours it says it’s supposed to dry, so as long as it’s not too thick when put on and done sooner than later it still should cinch down and seal nicely. You’ll probably see a little sealant seep out the...

Installing Swim Ladder - what type of caulking needed?

If you can countersink the newly drilled holes, it provides a little space for the 4000 to settle and create a gasket. Can use a larger drill bit on the outside edge to do this. Don’t tighten snug immediately. Let it dry 24 hours for the sealant to dry, gel, create a gasket, then cinch the bolts...

    Cleat size Adventure 208

I kind of enjoy splicing lines. Sapelo, just use some electrical tape to measure what feels right to you and get after it. I make a couple that fit ‘just right’ with the bow cleat at the distance I want, then stern and spring lines from midship are adjustable with the dock finger cleats. I keep...
