    Grady Fire.

How is it that you would know how/where the fire started and that a fire extinguisher or two would have made a difference? https://www.wect.com/2023/10/27/no-injuries-reported-after-boat-fire-carolina-beach-inlet/

    New Electronics

The starboard let's you use the old holes from underneath the hardtop. Purely a cosmetic issue if that stuff bothers you (It bothers me!). Starboard isn't that noticeable from up top. You might be able to find a ScanStrut base that matches the Furuno. But that may not adapt to the Garmin GMR base.

    Simrad NSS question

Manufacturers have moved away from batteries for memory. Switched to NVRAM non-volitle random access memory like flash drive technologies. Not a good endorsement for Simrad. How long after will they support a product that's been discontinued?

    270 islander MPG

These are numbers I pulled from a boating magazine. Not sure I believe the numbers. See too high. I have a 268 Islander with twin F150's and 4-blade props. I'm a 28 knot cruise at 5000 rpm's with great midrange performance. Those 250HP V-6 blocks are heavy compared to the straight 6-cylinder...

Two questions - Sirius XM tuner and bait tank

If I understand his problem correctly once it air locks it will not start pumping water until the pump is turned off. This is the exact problem I had with my Luhrs. It has more to do with the pump than the pickup. What type of pump do you have? Model number and manufacturer?

    New Electronics

Had the same problem when I replaced my Furuno with a Garmin GMR18 closed dome. Made a round piece of starboard - rectangular would be ok too. Installed blind stainless nuts in it so it could be bolted on from under the hardtop. Made the new holes for the Garmin in the starboard (use 1/2"...

Two questions - Sirius XM tuner and bait tank

The Fusion stereo units have a place to plug in the XM tuner. The standard car XM antenna plugs into it. I doubt this is what you have if its on the hardtop. I have this setup and can see and use XM from the Fusion unit as well as my Garmin chartplotter. It you have a GXM52 or 54 puck mounted...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Project done! 1997 Islander 268. 134 gallon and 72 gallon tanks. About $3,800 in tanks and hoses and $700 in miscellaneous. Probably 100 hours DIY labor. Not that difficult to do but does require some fiberglass work and painting. One bulkhead had to be cut out, removed and replaced. Step had to...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

High water alarm switch installed in bilge. Here is my bell! May have to wait until I get to FL. Bell will be mounted behind battery switches. Plenty loud to alert crew and deck neighbors. There is an emergence shutdown switch on battery panel too.

Livewell thruhull turns but doesn't open

Seacocks that don’t get operated regularly barnacle up and break off the shaft. Pull the hose and look down inside to see if it moves. That cap is a drain witting for winterization. May be able to rebuild but replacement is easier.

    trim tabs anodes

I have the little "candy bar" zincs on my Bennett trim tabs. They get eaten up pretty good even though the boat is only in the water for a few month. Have the standard Yamaha zincs too.

Miguelfig - Your images above are useless. That is the beginning of the transom ripping out. Separated from the stringers. Engines may not fall off...not yet. Look at this one... Suggestions? - Yes - replace the transom and check stringers.

    265 X water intrusion

Well he should be able to see that. No clue about how much water or when it gets in. Probably nothing wrong with the boat.

Battery issues on my 2021 F285 - dealer replace or West Marine DIY?

Check the battery voltage with the charger connected and shore power on. You should see something close to 13.1 volts. If not look for a fuse on the charging cable from the battery. Voltage with engine running shows it's charging. Battery with no charging at < 12 volts is not good. A fully...
