    Portapottie lock downs

There should be a manufacturer tag on the toilet somewhere. Often the brand is right there on the front. Just look better. Dometic and Thetford are probably the two biggest players. We'd just be guessing, though - at almost 20 years old, there's no way for us to know what is there and/or...

    New props

Agree - based on what you said, it sounds like you're doing good and don't need to do anything. Put that money towards fuel.

    Portapottie lock downs

Go to whatever manufacturer's website (or just call them) that makes the toilet you have (it could be a couple) and look at parts manuals - or check the paper owner's manual that came with it. Once you find the part number for what you have, you can google.

    new to boating-

To bridge clearance, you can add the draft of the boat and then "roughly" speaking, about 18" to 24" for how high the boat sits on the trailer (essentially, keel to ground). It's not perfect, but it gets you into the range. But, back to the main point about the door... put in a big enough door...

    new to boating-

Get a 14' door - it is never a bad idea to go bigger than you anticipate. You may have electronics on top... you might get a bigger boat someday. The difference in cost now is negligible -- the cost to retrofit a larger door in the future is not.

    Model number & manufacturers

Happy New Year to you, as well, Connie! Where 'bouts in Maine in are you? I have property in Cushing and Friendship. About the best I can say as this point is that it sounds like an electrical problem - either button, pump or the wiring/connections in between. FYI, if you're near the boat...

    Model number & manufacturers

Connie, we'll need more information. There are a crapload (see what I did there!) of "types" of heads. Exact description of what you have, including holding tank style and/or macerator will help. Pics would be beneficial, too. Describing, in better detail, what you mean by "doesn't flush"...

AC Install in 282. It Works!

I'm only 49 and only have a couple grey strays at this point. But since I have blonde hair as well, I'm going to keep this "plexiglass trick" in the back of my head... as I get older, I'll just walk around with a sheet of plexiglass held in front of me all the time ;) Not really, truth is I...

AC Install in 282. It Works!

Lookin' good, blondie! :) For the box and intake grill, just eye it up to the surroundings - that's more important than being level. I wouldn't worry about air until you see it's a problem. It's quite possible it will bleed itself - that's pretty normal for that to happen. Running the boat...

    Offshore 24 floor

It helps to save MY time by only posting the photos that are of the area he needs. It's not like he's paying me! :) I think that's a reasonable request.

    Updating Instrument Panel

2nd for New Wire - unless you just want to paint it or wrap it in vinyl... both are an easy project. Gauges are self explanatory. Your trim tab system is by Bennett. FYI... going forward, make sure to cover the dash to keep those UV rays off things.

    Offshore 24 floor

Right, but where exactly do you want to cut this access hatch and/or for what purpose? I assume you mean "chine", not gunwale, correct?

    Offshore 24 floor

I have some pics I can share, but it would help to know exactly where you are talking about and/or what you're trying to access. There is no storage space available, if that's what you're after.

    Holding Tank Question

You're welcome, J. Just an FYI, what I meant by "head systems" is that there are different styles/setups. PortaPotti with macerator... manual flush setups... Vacuflush... etc, etc. As far as I'm aware (and I know for a fact regarding Vacuflush) there is no one-way valve on a vent. There's...

    Holding Tank Question

There are multiple types of head systems so the answer could depend on what specific style you have. If you have a sensor that when it trips "full" (which you probably have... but is gunked up), in some systems that prevents flushing. Nothing will go out the vent - that is the highest thing in...

New (to me) Grady 268. What's the hatch for?

Just to be clear, you said "in front of the cabin" which can be read as the "anchor hatch". When dealing with words only, you have to be very descriptive. For example, in your next post you said it's "across from the anchor hatch"... "Across" means to the left or right. But obviously we now...

New (to me) Grady 268. What's the hatch for?

Ummm... open it up and look? :) Joking aside, are you talking about the anchor hatch? But, no, I'm not going to explain how to open a hatch. Do you need help on how to open your car door, too? ;)

Amber indicator lights or toggle switch ‘87 seafarer

I have the same things. Offhand, I don't know the manufacturer. I "think" the switch manufacturer might be Cole Hersee. But I don't think they'll be that hard to match up, regardless of manufacturer. Pull a switch out and look at it - if you can still read the tag, it will tell you. Don't...

    Fuel Leak

As noted above, check easy things like the fuel sender gasket, first. Tape some paper towels around it and take a short ride. Or even just leave the deck plate open to observe it.

2003 Grady White Express 33 with Suzuki 350 duoprop

The first picture shows things being "chunkier" than I'd normally like to see. The second pic is too blury. But this is the first gear oil change, right? It could just be due to breaking in. As you noted above, for now, just keep an eye on it - maybe change the gear oil after another 20 to...
