    Adding trim tabs

Space is certainly a consideration - but the hydraulic unit is plenty small and you'll have room for it. But the pros/cons are pretty much what was said above. Personally, I've seen electrics fail at enough of a higher rate to prefer hydraulics... which, for the most part, go for decades...

    Adding trim tabs

I thought of mentioning "birds"... but they're not NEARLY as cool as a SeaKeeper!

    Adding trim tabs

I probably shouldn't have used "fuel economy" in the same line as "tremendous". It will help fuel economy, for a number of reasons, but it's not going to be huge increase. But it will still be better. They won't give you more top end speed - but they can allow you run faster under certain...

    Adding trim tabs

Yup, trim tabs have no effect on roll (or pitch) at slow speeds. But they would have a tremendous impact on stability, ride comfort, hole shot and fuel economy at speed. The way to solve help roll at slow speeds is with a wider-beam boat. The way to solve roll issues at slow speeds is by...

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

Lucky, I'm NOT saying do/do not get the Marlin or do/do not get the World Cat... but I think (as some others have pointed out here and on other threads) that to do the best thing FOR YOU, you really need to ride a Marlin. I know he's your buddy, but you can't listen to someone else's opinion on...

    Old oil tank sensors

I'd be willing to bet what is happening is that the rubber cap is simply old and hard and not sealing as tight as it should. You might be able to seal it up with something like Merc's "Perfect Seal" or similar. It's a non-hardening gasket sealer that isn't affected by gas/oil, etc. - pretty...

Ring Free or not on new engines?

Hmmm. That's interesting. I say that because that's the complete opposite of my experience using it, religiously, over the last 15 years. Heck, I routinely double dose, if not more. For chainsaws, snow blowers, etc, etc, I bet I'm putting in 5 times the amount since I splash in about an...

    Updating stereo on boat 228

Just thinking outloud... and maybe someone who's more "in tune" with this stuff than me can clarify... when you tested them, you tested in the "free air"? If so, I can see why there would be a difference in bass. However, once you put them in a container, will the difference still be...

Your welcome! Now, more importantly... have you put a ring on Penelope's finger, yet? :)

Tips on removing batteries on 330 express 2008 and up

Stable feet placement and one hand used for support while the other lifts. But, if I can make a quick inference that's it's not something you want to do yourself since if it was, you probably would have just done it instead of taking the time to ask on a forum... here's the solution: Hey kid...

    New -275 freedom ownee

Didn't even cross my mind - I thought I was being helpful by double checking it was there? Besides, is it a "bad" thing to simply point someone in the right direction? I suppose I could have posted only to tell someone that they "didn't do a good enough job" without offering any help to the OP...

Ring Free or not on new engines?

I think RF (which I like) is more beneficial to 2-strokes but, no, there's no reason you can't start using it right away. It can only do good things. Of more importance is probably something like Startron if you're not able to use up the fuel quickly and also can't get ethanol-free fuel.

I couldn’t find that! Kathleen - I just looked - it is definitely on GW's website - look under "explore".

    New -275 freedom ownee

Hi, Stinky, welcome aboard! :) I don't know the direct answer, but this sounds like something that would certainly be in the owner's manual. If you don't have the original, you can download it from GW's site. Good luck!

    Vinyl for windows

I would just clean out the gap where the rubber shrunk and then squeeze in some black LifeCaulk and call it a day. Easy and at least as good as replacing the rubber.

    New props

Could be something (fishing line?) that got into the shaft seals and is causing that sound. Check gearcase fluid for water contamination as well as closely inspecting the seal that you can say. Inspect the splines closely for damage. Possibly file gently.

1989 Tournament 19 Gas tank part number

You might find it in an owner's manual - some of them had parts lists. You may be about to find it/download it from GW's site. Otherwise contact Grady directly. Personally, I'd VERY wary of relying only on a part number without measuring. That's a big gamble with a lot of money that's "all...

    Islander Trailer Setup

That's certainly good enough for me! Just checking though... you measured at the ball coupler, right? Not the tongue jack? Meaning, set the coupler down on a length of 4x4 (for example) placed vertically between the ball coupler and the scale that allows the trailer frame to be perfectly level.
