Kind of curious LR. In one post you indicate as soon as you got the boat you put bigger tabs on it. Does this mean, you purchased the boat, bought new tabs, installed them and then splashed and ran her without ever running her with the 12x9 tabs? Or, did you run it with the OEM tabs and then...

Fish Styxx Rod holder mounted outriggers

Hey Yall: I have asked about outriggers before and never pulled the trigger on them. I was going to get some taco telescoping ones since I trailer boat everywhere. I found these rod holder mounted ones which give a 20 foot spread. They have rod holder on them, so we dont lose that spot. Just...

    1990 Marlin with Suzuki DF250s

I dont know if I can add any value to the discussion but what you found would cause a fair amount of drag and the motors seem to be over propped too. You likely have 2 things going on there. Good luck

Kessle. I am going to give you some Captain Ron advice....if it is going to happen, it will happen out there. Lol what I mean by this is you will have to experience the boat and adjust the tabs to get a feel for her. I had a 192 foot 192 Grady and the boat rode well without tabs and just...

    New Grady 228 owner

I am not a guy who has owned a boat for 40 years. Though I have been around boats all my life. The 228 can be wet when taking a quartering sea and perhaps if the flair were a bit more pronounced it would reduce it. That said, I have rented a number of center console boats in the Florida Keys...

Congrats on the boat. I dont know what motor you have on the boat. I put a 4 blade prop on mine which is powered by a F250. The boat is very trim tab happy. Learn to use them and you will get dialed in on the ride. Trim the motor up past neutral and it will help handling around the dock...

    Evinrude 200 vs 225

I had a 1998 192 with Johnson 150 Ocean Pro on her when I bought it 02. That motor was terrible. It sucked gas like no tomorrow. It did not like to be started after it was warm and routinely stalled on us. 1998 waa the year OMC went belly up and Bombardier bought them. If it were me I would...

When does the fat lady sing?

I am a native Floridian who moved to the mountains. While I enjoy fall in the Smokies, it signifies the end of boating. I miss that about Florida. Now I wait for spring and a trip to the sunshine state to chase dolphin.

    Putting her to work

The video was nice. Santa Clause got me a Sony Action Cam for Christmas and I have fishing video of us slaying dolphin. I guess I need to create an Youtube account and load up the fishing videos. Nice ride and I have been out of Stienhatchee when I had my 192.

    190 Tournament

My brother had a mid 80s 190 and I once owned 192. Both are great boats but I must concur the SV2 hull on that boat makes a noticeable difference in ride and wetness. If you can spring for a 94 or newer you won't regret it. My 192 took me 30 miles off of Sebastian routinely and it is a great...

BEST RIDING HULL BEYOND 232 SV2 HULL?

Marlin 300 would be the best riding walk around. The more mass and as others noted the longer hull improves ride in similar conditions. I would love a Marlin. The other choice would be to pick your days and keep your 232.

First year for F250 on 228??

I agree the 06 model year. So good luck on getting the right boat. You have a Trophy or Seaswirl as I recall? You will appreciate the ride difference. Let us know what you find.

Cruise report from Georgetown to Little River Inlet

Dave I was kind of hoping we would be able to meet up there. Maybe next time possibly I can coordinate it in advance with you guys. The jet ski rental business in the Myrtle Beach portion of the ICW is alive and well. I think they let any idiot rent those things to be honest with you guys...

Cruise report from Georgetown to Little River Inlet

It is a new trailer and I was surprised by it. They hung Tie Down G5 components on it as well. The other 3 were all running cool and normal and there is no abnormal tire wear either. In spected the other hubs visually and got behind them to see if there was any grease leaking out of the rear...

Instead of snakes on plane- ants on a boat

Thanks Guys for the ideas. We keep the boat pretty darn clean as it is why I am surprised to find them. I noticed in the campground I was staying in several folks used seven dust around their trailer jacks and wheels. that should have been a big warning sign to me (lol). In the summers we...

Instead of snakes on plane- ants on a boat

Hey Guys: While I was over at Myrtle Beach area, my boat became infested with tiny ants as it was parked in a grass over flow parking lot. Then it rained like 4 inches Thursday night thus forcing ants to seek higher ground, and boy did they. So, I am thinking about using aint baits in the...

Cruise report from Georgetown to Little River Inlet

We have had less than eventful summer. Things with the business and such did not fall into place. So we took a short trip to Myrtle Beach area. We have never been there before and towed the boat along. I have poked around the South Carolina Coast between Hilton Head and Charleston and never...

282 Sailfish vs. Eastern Boats 27 Islander

I have never heard of Eastern boats until this thread. I went to their terrible website and the best I could tell was they make a down east style center console. Is the 27 Eastern a walk around? If not you are comparing two different animals. The Eastern hull from what little info I could...
