    Raw water washdown pump prime?

My pump also has a fine stainless steel screen just ahead of the intake at the pump itself. It is designed to get small stuff out of the water. Check that too if you have one. Since Grady does not make the pump and uses various brands it is not the boat but the pump is the issue. I have a...

    oil stain at water line

Hey Yall: Last year I started keeping my boat on the lake in a covered slip. Here in the Smoky Mountains you can still see decades old 2 strokes hung on boats. Some joker clearly spilled a fair amount of 2 stroke oil in the water near my boat and it stained my hull at the water line with a...

Traveling the N.C. and S.C. coast question

I have it in the back if my mind to one day run from NC to Fla and do it on the ICW. Running on the outside just does not seem as fun as running along the ICW in terms of scenery. I like old southern coastal towns and the charm they have. Missing those for more ocean just seems to miss the...

    Seafarer 22 vs Offshore 24

In general more wetter surface of a boat tends to mean a better riding boat. The pre sea v 2installed ulls from folks who had a Seafarer model similar to yours have told me the boat pounded. The guy installed to at Hadrels in Charleston called his mid 80s seafarer the sea donkey. He said the...

    help with garmin sat weather

I have a Garmin designed for both car and marine use. It is not my main plotter. It has XM weather stuff on it and the limitations are not Sirius XM, it is the limitations on the Doppler weather radar feeds they use to sendto your plotter. So if the land base radar can only track a storm 40 off...

Was this a members boat? What Happened?

Here is an observation...an optimist point of view. The crew made it off alive and the boat did not sink. If it sunk on the bottom she would be. I am not sure why it happened or how it could have been prevented. What I know is she was still afloat even after the cause of flooding happened. What...

    paste wax

How come you are not using an orbital buffer to apply it? Also, and I could be wrong here, I am not sure there is any real benefit to applying another coat of wax because it seems to me the solvents in the 2nd coat are just removing the first coat. Now if you polish the boat with a finishing...

    Marlin 300 vs. Adventure 208

First, sea trial the Marlin and see if you like it. one of the down sides to the 1990 hull is it is not a SV2 hull. The ride between the two is significant, but since you are going bigger even a non SV2 hull boat nearly 10 feet longer, with a wider beam and just plain more mass will ride better...

Our trip to the Keys in our Marlin

Fisher, Last year we took a day and went to Nest Key in Everglades National Park. It was a very nice and relaxing day as it was blowing on the outside. However, when we were there something or the winds or current but something came across the shoals there and really made the water milky. It...

Grady Admirers at my Boat Yesterday

Welding aluminum is tricky but aluminum is the backbone of the bicycle industry for entry level mountain and road bikes. Now all the really nice bikes are carbon fiber. You need an inert environment to weld it because the oxygen in the air makes the welds weak. As much as others might not like...

Threw hull or in hull Transducer

RiverRat: Originally the dealer installed the unit using pure mineral oil from the drug store. It worked really good, but they bedded it with 5200 and while 5200 is like a forever bond, it softens over time when exposed to various oils such as mineral oil. So I contemplated glassing it in and...

Our trip to the Keys in our Marlin

We have done sort of that trip about 10 years ago in my old 192 when we ran from Flamingo down to Bahia Honda and Big Pine areas and back in a day. Took my dad to the Keys- Everglades with my brothers down there in December for his 70th birthday. I have been in the Keys in December, March...

Threw hull or in hull Transducer

I have a 1 kw airmar shoot thru the hull and my results are quite good. These transducer do not work well in cored areas of the hull. Mine holds the bottom at 1,300 feet at speed and gives me reliable shallow water results down to a foot.

First day on the water w 208, cruise speed off ?

Perhaps it is the prop? Could be wrong pitch or it could be made of aluminum? Since I boat a fair amount in Florida my gps is set to mph. Why? Because manatee speed zones are in mph and not knots. I had a 192 it topped out at 44 mph with a 150 4 stroke. My 228 tops out around 43. Your boat...

Which one would you consider buying?

I wonder if the Op meant Gulfstream? I dont see how one could hang twins on a Seafarer but I guess it could be done. I would rather have an overall newer boat versus an old boat hull pushing 30 years with a newer motor.

    Spring break in trip

Hey Yall: I hauled my 228 to Florida three weeks ago and the weather plainly stunk for the most of the first week we were there. I got to splash her on the St. Johns and ran her to Silver Glenn Springs from SR 44 and back. Great trip. The winds kicked up to 15 to 20 knots and it turned Lake...

    2007 226 Before & After Pics

Nice rig. I troll in the ocean and man I only 4 to 6 in my spread. I wish I could run 10 in a spread. That swim ladder looks pretty darn factory. We head out in a few days to fish for dolphin off the east coast of Fla.
