    Seafarer v. Overnighter

I remember running the Homasassa River while living in paradise and man that place is sketch in areas. I can see how easy it is to run aground and hit stuff there. Good luck and now you "GET" to buy a new prop!!!!! Sorry for the hassels there for sure...

    Seafarer v. Overnighter

Doc,I dont doubt the the 226 and 228 handle differently. I just have not observed the same things your buddy has or perhaps even you. My Grady fishing resume includes being out on my old 192, my brothers 1988 190, the Tourny 205, Express 305, Express 330 and Marlin 280 and of course my 228. I...

    Seafarer v. Overnighter

Doc My 08 22 Planes At 22 And With A 4 Blade Prop The Boat Handles Big Seas And Following Seas Much Better Than A 3 Blade Prop. The Boat Does Porpoise But The Trim Tabs Solve It. In Fact The Boat Handles Well In MoSt Seas Conditions With Tab Adjustments. With That Said I WoulD Not But A 226...

    Leszekgorski Question.

mboyat: There aint nothing wrong at all swimming with sharks. My kids enjoy seeing them on the reefs when we are down there. My youngest son and I were snorkeling in the Exumas near Thunderball and saw about a 10 foot lemmon shark. It was awesome! When I grew up surfing at New Smyrna we saw...

    Leszekgorski Question.

Magic: I frequent the middle and upper Keys and have been to Looe a few times. Most of the sharks on the reefs I have seen are either black tips or nurse sharks. I have seen two hammerheads, one at the Elbow which is a blue water reef that juts out into the Gulf Stream and on the Jesus Reef or...

What does everyone do for a living?

I could have been a blood sucking lawyer as I got into FSU's college of law, but decided otherwise. I am a recovering environmental planner/biologist who got a burr up his hind end about 8 years ago. I quit my job and moved from my native state of Florida to the Smoky Mountains of NC. I bought a...

    New Yamaha 200 vs E-tech 200

I repowered my 1998 192 in 2004 with a F150. It was the first model year of that motor. Best money I have ever spent and when I sold the boat in 2009 it had almost 700 hours on that motor. I took care of it with annual oil changes and so forth. So, if you are thinking it being a new model or...

    New Grady Owner

Congrats on the new boat to you! I had a 1998 192 and it was a great boat and part of me misses it. It is a solid 19 footer and enjoy her for years to come.

help deciding on which grady! (seafarer/overnighter)

The Gulfy appears to be the boat of choice especially if you really do not plan to trailer the boat. If I did not want or need to trailer it is my boat of choice in the 22-23 foot range. If you need to trailer it any great distance then the seafarer is the choice. Good luck in your decision.

Replacing the Stern Shower holder cup thingy tips

Thanks No Regrets. I have yet to get to the project with school about to start and things being busy plus it has rained like everyday now for a couple weeks (lol)....I think your method might be the trick....

Replacing the Stern Shower holder cup thingy tips

Hey Yall: I am replacing the stern shower insert on my boat. The problem is Grady went ahead and made an upgrade and they cup insert piece is now thicker, built better so it does not fit in the original hole. I have a bosche jig saw which is really nice, but one of the guys at Grady said to...

Grady Thumbs up...by another dealer not selling gradys

Hey Guys: This past week I met a guy from Jacksonville who is a Pursuit broker and we talked boats for maybe 30 minutes in my store here. Really nice guy and he asked if I had a boat and I told him what make and model and guess what? Well, he was very nice and complimentary on the fit, finish...

    Attacked by Grady White bashers

Doc, I recall back in the day Mako made a solid and respectable boat. Then in the 90s they went downhill when they became a big conglomerate boat company. Some boat builders improve over time while others slide. Funny Sea Hunt has been around for a fraction of the time that Grady has and they...

    trailer wheel bearings

If the trailer is old the rear seals can fail allowing grease out and water into the hub. It is a good idea to repack every season. Now if you live like 5 minutes from the ramp and do not travel much distance, you can get away with adding grease to the bearings via the buddy bearing system...

    Twin 150's or 300 on a Journey 258

If I was in your shoes, I would go for the twins for the peace of mind and doc handling like others said. Besides it just looks cool to have twin motors too. I would also suggest buying something like a ACR 406 handheld EPIRB and a ditch bag regardless if you have a single or twins as well as...

222 won't track straight at low rpms

Bob's principle - adjust the trim up or down on the motor and trim tabs so the boat rides the way you want, then sit back listen to some tunes and enjoy a beverage of your choice as long as it is legal and nobody else gets hurt. Doc, thanks for the physics lesson. I vaguely recall this stuff...

    Attacked by Grady White bashers

Graybeard, Maybe there is some truth what others say about price and ride? I do not know. Maybe Consumer Reports could be talked into doing a side by side objective ride test of boats in the same size and boat type one day. Until then, we are stuck with more subjective analysis at the tiki bar...

4-Blade Props on Sailfish with OX66's

If one is looking at this soley from a cost benefit perspective, then changing the prop to gain fuel savings and hoping to recover the money and then save a bit more, then perhaps it is not a good investment. Now if you need a new prop or props and you have to spend the money regardless, then...

4-Blade Props on Sailfish with OX66's

Seasick, I will challenge the theory of more blades equals more drag thus less fuel effecient. While this may be true both in theory and the real world, there are other factors impacting performance. Since you cited Bernoules, I can assume you might be a scientist or engineer of some sorts...
