    Transom cracks, '99 Adventure 208

My error on the transducer area. I was referring to the mount for the port trim tab actuator. I see that crack but there is a dark mark on the photo coming from the top of the swim platform. It may be a crack or a string or just a mark. I can't tell. Anywho, the transom is the entire read...

    Deal gone south

If a legit broker wasn't involved, I would not take a bank check. Too many crooks out there. More importantly, I would like to see the title of course and the HIN number on the boat. It would be nice to know that the seller is the actual owner of the boat. And finally, I may have read the post...

    2006 Chase trim tab indicator

There is a post about these issues. Here is Bennett's test procedure for the indicators • Upper yellow LED flashes on port or starboard side: Indicates the EIC Display is not receiving a sensor signal. If the port upper yellow LED flashes, the fault is in the port (red) sensor or wires. A...

    NY Boat Show, Jan 26th-30th

I don't mind on-line tickets. It's the fact that you have to pick a specific day that is inconvenient. Often my buddies have last minute changes to their plans. You reminded me of the times that I entered the wrong show at the Javits's center when more than one was running at the same time...

    Transom cracks, '99 Adventure 208

Stringers are structural members that run fore and aft as opposed to bulkheads that run port to starboard. Now that I think about it, I am not sure if there are stringers in the 208 that run all the way back to the transom. I kind of remember that if you look in the aft lockers, you will see...

Adventure 208 Electronics Box - Fishfinder Size?

I have 2 - 5 inch displays but I think 2- 7s would fit. I find that two displays are more useful as compared to a slightly larger display using spilt screen. I am surprised to see that a 12 inch display fit. Is that mounted on a bracket!? For the record, I remove my displays after each outing...

    NY Boat Show, Jan 26th-30th

It looks so far like the NY Boat Show is still a go with some changes. I know that several yearly shows have been cancelled due to a shortage of inventory. I wonder who will have what models on display. Being a retired older geezer, I don't like to be tied down to a specific schedule so some of...

    Transom cracks, '99 Adventure 208

Thanks for the additional info. That motor weight and HP is appropriate for your hull. If you want to keep the boat, repairs are in order. Note that what I expect to be needed will be pretty costly. I really don't see a cheap fix so if you get a low estimate, it will probably be for one of the...

Who makes the cover/cap for this?

That is definitely a Scandvik spray head. I just replaced one one with the plastic 'hinge' strap. I replaced the cup. hose, sprayer and lid with the Scandvik OEM parts for about $60. The caps with the plastic strap tend to only last a few years but near me they are available in Marine stores for...

    Transom cracks, '99 Adventure 208

What motor is on the boat? I see that the port side lower scupper is half under water. That can mean extra weight and may be due to a heavier motor. Regardless, those are not gel coat stress cracks in my opinion. I suspect more serious transom issues or maybe stringer issues . If that is the...

How to access nuts to tighten Boat railings

Its a long shot but one trick is to try and lift the bolt to make is tight and them spin the head with a power nut driver. You are trying to add drag to the nut by pulling it up against the backing plate. Other than that, depending on which bolts are loose, you may not have a way to get to them...

    Zipper extends

They will not stretch, at least the canvas won't. The plastic might if it is cold and was rolled up. A better solution is to hang what you can and then hose down the canvas. This works fairly well to help the fibers stretch as long as the canvas absorbs water If it was heavily treated with...

    Tools for cleaning the boat?

I am not sure if alcohol works as well on tar which was mostly the stuff we would see in the service station. Now that I think of it, the rag with gas was always for road tar. I don't know if it worked well on sap:)

    Tools for cleaning the boat?

When I was a lot younger, I worked as a mechanic in a service station. We would clean tree sap with a rag soaked in gasoline! Times were different then and today, that practice would be frowned upon and rightly so. For the record, gas worked very well.

    Garmin 8612xsv upgrade

There is a video online describing a method for gluing Starboard. As you may know, gluing is not recommended. The video shows that by heating the starboard with a torch and then pouring water over the heated area, it's surface composition changes and certain glues will work fairly well. I will...
