    Adding trim tabs

Can you explain a little clearer to me what you are trying to accomplish: I am confused.

Help : Wheelchair Access Door for 1989 Seafarer

I would be skeptical about $2500 job for the amount of work it would require. You need at least 36 inches clear opening and I cant imaging a spot on that hull where such an opening could be cut without compromising the hull's integrity A better approach would be a wheelchair davit style hoist...

    Little Electric Maintenance - Breakers

Back to your original post as to why the breakers are at the stern. ABYC specs require overcurrent protection and/or power switching within a specific distance to the batteries. I can't remember the distance but it is under 24 inches I think.

    Protection Package with new boat..

I usually avoid any extended warranty packages on products.. I will not get an extended coverage package on an appliance unless the plan is offered by the manufacturer. In other words, no third parties. At a minimum ask for a copy of the contract to take home and read. If they say no there is a...

    Adding trim tabs

The trim tabs will help greatly dealing with uneven loads. With regard to fuel savings and speed, I probably have a different opinion than most. There are those who think that tabs should rarely be used except when listing needs to be corrected. This view is based on a hull that is well balanced...

    Adding trim tabs

I suspect that if trolling fairly slowly, trim tabs won't make much of a difference. They are not stabilizers even with auto trim. At speed they can help to a point and can help if the boat is listing at speed but if you have waves abeam, the hull is going to roll.

    Little Electric Maintenance - Breakers

In my opinion, the devices with the rust looking corrosion are needing replacement. The devices with the green oxidation on the other hand should clean up nicely. The battery and ground cables may have issues under the shrink tubing but you can't really tell without cutting off the old. If they...

2005 226 upgrade Nav and cockpit lights

The Attwood for a deck mount separate fixture is NV2012SSG-7 for green. For red the number is similar with an R I think. Stainless housings and run about 50 bucks each. I suspect there might be a package with both fixtures but I can't find a listing to be sure.

    Old oil tank sensors

It is the sensor. I also understand why you tank leaks. Since you have fills on the gunnels, it is easy to actually fill the tank all the way to it's top. On one of my boats, it is just about impossible to see the oil level in the tank and it is kind of normal to fill till the filler overflows...

    Old oil tank sensors

Ha, the old bait and switch! Do you fill using the screw cap or are there hose extensions from the tanks to a deck fill fixture? The caps do get stiff and loose over time but often can be 'fixed' by cleaning the lip and cap and adding a wire tie around the outer lip. While you are at it, make...

    Add seating 360 Express

There are options available from several manufactures for fold down bench seats but most of those are intended to be mounted to a structurally solid flat surface like you might find at the back transom area. Here is an example https://www.elevationmarine.com/products/fold-down-bench-seat Gunnel...

Ring Free or not on new engines?

I have seen fouling issues when too much startron was added. I don't add anything to my gas other than ring free. I also don't routinely clean the O2 sensor. Maybe it could use it but I kind of judge it's probable condition by inspecting the spark plugs. I find it much more important to check...

    Old oil tank sensors

I am nor sure I have seen that fitting leak and to be honest, I don't see how it would unles the tank were filled to the brim with oil. I suppose oil can slosh around and maybe seep a bit. How bad was the leak? Can you tell me why the oil stain in that tank seems vertical and not horizontal? It...

    Fuel tank replacement

The tank itself or tank and labor? A ball park estimate for tanks is about $10 per gallon.( shipping can add a lot to that number if needed) The labor that can add up. Labor costs are affected by several factors: How hard or easy it is to get to and pull the tank ( access panel or need to cut...

    Yamaha f225 knocking sound

It is not clear how pervasive the exhaust issue is and what models or years are at higher risk. You will hear more about 225s since there are a ton of them in service hence more reports of problems. I have read about the problems in 225s, 250s,lately a few 200s ( 6 cyl) and I think no 300s. The...

    Old oil tank sensors

What small orifice are you referring to? The tank is for the most part sealed. The more common oil leak is out the sender cap which gets loose over time. However if it is leaky it does not leak during normal operations and when the motor id tilted down. It leaks when the motor is tilted up...

    Old oil tank sensors

Good tip about the ss tie wrap. One minor detail on the explanation. The remote tank doesn't know what the level in the main tank is. . The main tank detects a low level and sends power to the remote pump. In your case, when the main sensor assembly popped up, the high level reed switch...

Ring Free or not on new engines?

I agree with SkunkBoat and I use other brands of ringfreeish additives in my engines. ( I only add stabilizers for winter layup) That said, my motors have some age on them. If I had new expensive motors, it wouldn't be the science that makes my choice of product but rather guilt:)

2005 226 upgrade Nav and cockpit lights

I usually do not recommend replacing nav light bulbs with LED bulbs as opposed to replacing the fixture. The issue with replacing bulbs with LED is the spectrum of the led light can be very different than the colored lenses pass and the brightness may be seriously reduced. Replacing white...
