    coast guard documented numbers

I have my vessel same on both sides of the boat and the port on the stern. My permanent numbers are inside the hull in the compartment that houses the washdown and livewell pumps in the rear of the boat. They are black registration stick on number with a couple of coats of Polyurethane over...

Slime in water tank blocks filter

Same reply as Bob P. I use an aggressive mixture of 2 gallons of Clorox in tank. I first run the tank as dry as possible - add 2 gallons of clorox and a couple of gallons of water and then run each water outlet - sinks shower and cockpit sink until the bleach begins to flow out. I then let it...

Twin Engine Handling (or lack thereof)

My sailfish will spin using one engine forward at a constant speed and I use the reverse to spin the boat by reving the engine in reverse. I have pretty good luck when winds and current are calm, however, Saturday I had issues because of the NW wind and outgoing tide. It is just about impossible...

    282 Sailfish vs. 232 Gulfstream

The ride is much better, handling is better although I am comparing a Gulfstream with a single F225. Overall the Sailfish is a great boat but I would think twice about trailering it.

    Hot Water Winterization

Does anyone have tips on the winterizing the hot water system. I know it take a lot of water to flush the system clean in the spring do you need 5 or 6 gallons of non toxic antifreeze to get hot the water out of the hot water tank?

Bildge pump float switch not working

If the pump works it is most likely the float or a break in the wire from the float. You coud cut the wires from the float and touch them together if the pump goes on then it is the float if not then there is a wiring issue. Good Luck

Question for owners of USCG Documented Boats

I put my numbers on a Sailfish on the side of the Hull inside where the wasdown pumps are. I just used plastic stick on registraion numbers and then app;ied 3 coats of Polyurethane over them. I have been boarded by the coast guard several times and the have nexer asked to see them. They just...

    New boat prices

Grady's are priced on the high end but I'm one of those that believe you get what you pay for. I had a 15 year old Seafarer and was asked be a bystander if it was a bran new boat at age 14. Don't get me wrong they don't magically stay that way wothout a lot of hardwork. I have a 2004 Sailfish...

    Batteries in Winter

Mine also stay on the boat and never a problem even with the cold Boston winters. Here is a tip , use a wire tie to tie together the utitity connection to the main terminal wire they should be connected to. You never remember in the spring where they connect a real time saver

    MOLD

I have had mold issues on 2 2004 GW. I think the fabric GW used in the years around 2004 (tan and white with GW paterns) was not a mold resistant fabric. GW actaully had to replace the interior cushions on my 2004 gulfstream twice and once on my 2004 Sailfish. I had mixed results using Tilex as...

    Water Heater on 2002 Sailfish

The hot water is pressurized by the fresh water switch. to make sure there is water in the tank just turn on the hot water and if water flow you are set. Heats up pretty quick and stay hot for several hours when you are not connected to shore power.

    HPDI VS 4 strokes

My Sailfish has 220 gallon capacity. I get a bit better mileage than quoted - I would guess 1.2 to 1.5 miles per gallon. If the question was on HPDIs , they were very fuel efficient when I went from a 1995 200 Johnson to a 2002 200 HPDI and the fuel savings was probably 30-40 percent!

    HPDI VS 4 strokes

I have owned both 4 strokes (current) and HPDI. Both are great engines. Keep away form the 300 HPDI as they had a history of trouble. I personally like the quieter low end and the more pleasing high end noise level of the 4 stroke. The HPDI's was better for getting our the hole if than a single...
