    rebuilt powerhead

I agree it may not be worth it. But where is Hampton Roads? I've read about popular power head rebuilders in Florida.

    Hardtop paint-265Express

EasyPoxy is nice stuff - it lays down nicely. Just don't overbrush - let it do it's thing and smooth itself out. I, personally, don't see any problems with using two different colors - I think it will look nice. But that part is 100% opinion based and the only one that matters is yours...

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

Yes, you are correct. Actually, if you want to play around, when the conditions are nice (little to no chop), go ahead and practice "steering" the boat with just the tabs. It'd be another thing to do that will help you get comfy with them! Maybe you're past this point, but one thing I like to...

    Sea Deck Debate

I "thought" that AwlGrip is hard to re-paint down the road? If not, great - I know it's good stuff. Otherwise, you may want to use something that is more user friendly. For example, I used Petit's EasyPoxy non-skid about 6 years ago and it's holding up well. There's a couple, very small...

    Tools for cleaning the boat?

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

I think with more time and experience you'll get used to using trim (both engine and tabs) without a gauge. Truth is, a gauge is nearly useless. There's so many other variables that come into play when trimming a boat (load, speed, water conditions, wind, etc, etc) that a "particular setting"...

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

I hope you own stock in a gas company! :) When you get a chance, deploy both tabs all the way and try a hole shot... I think you'll end up with a smile on your face and will probably have to do it a couple times "just to be sure" Are you trimming the engine ALL the way down all the time on...

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

Oh, well, heck - yeah, if you haven't been using your tabs, you're leaving an awful good tool in the toolbox unused. :) Super fast hole shot... holding plane at slow speeds... heck, with that size boat you can probably keep the boat level even at speeds LOWER than "on plane". They're really a...

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

Generally, I'm not a fan of them in the sense that it really depends on the boat. I think they make more of a difference on smaller, lighter boats (physics, based on the amount of upward pounds of "lift" they provide). Trim tabs are wonderful and beat out a fin any day of the week for multiple...

    Yamaha F150

Understood. But to re-explain, maybe in a better/more direct way, the most important thing for you, moving forward, will be to make sure you're ordering the correct parts (using model/serial number... although you don't always "need" to do that for many parts). Changes to motors happen, but...

    Yamaha F150

This isn't a direct answer, but may be a better answer if the reason you're asking is to verify model year for a boat you're looking at. First, forget about the decals - decals can be changed... motor model years don't always coincide with boat model years... motors can be changed. Stickers...

    Transom cracks, '99 Adventure 208

Those definitely don't appear to be just minor stress cracks in the gelcoat. However, you won't really know till more investigation is done. What's the deal with that schmootz beign applied over the crack on the stbd side? That's a band aid repair if I ever saw one - and a red flag. Stbd...

Who makes the cover/cap for this?

I know what you mean. Sometimes it feels like it's just one thing after the other, too. But, hey, there are worse problems to have in this world, right! :)

Who makes the cover/cap for this?

Good, glad you got the reference! Ebay shmeebay... $160 for a little piece of plastic! C'mon, think it through - that's absurd. Go to a real store. Did you check Scandvik's website - I bet a replacement cup/lid is under $20. All that matters is that it fits into the same size hole - the...

Who makes the cover/cap for this?

Where you gettin' those numbers from , Willis? :) Probably only 5 minutes longer than replacing just the cap. If you're just buying the cup/cap assembly, it shouldn't be anywhere near $150.

Who makes the cover/cap for this?

Contact Scandvik to see if they have a replacement cap available for old stuff. If not, you could probably just replace the cup/lid.

How to access nuts to tighten Boat railings

Just to add on to what Seasick mentioned about "lifting" the bolt head... Add some more force by using a screwdriver as a "lever" to apply more force. Even better would be a fork-style tool - whether you make it out of an old screwdriver or use a door trim removal tool. But other than that...
