1993 208 Adventure Hardtop Kicker Addition

How low does the stern sit with the 225? I am concerned about two things: Scuppers under water and possible a list to starboard with the kicker added. Originally the oil tank was on the port side and batteries on the starboard side. I assume the oil tank was removed but where are the batteries...

1995 Adventure install forward bilge pump

Regarding the pump burning out; It is not the ice that killed it. It was the fact that the freezing water since it expands, pushes up and hold up the float switch. The pump runs and drains the liquid water under the ice but then runs dry...for ever... until the motor overheats and burns out. On...

1995 Adventure install forward bilge pump

In addition to the painful work to install a pump and plumbing, there is another issue. I have this same issue on my 208 and other boat; On myotherboat the forward area even with a pump will still have some water in it. Water gets in through the anchor locker lid. In winter, that small standing...

GW 2017 Freedom 235 Water in Bilge

That's what I was referring to. "You should also if possible see if the bilge gets water when the boat just sits in the water without use. If it does, you probably do not have a deck to hull seal leak."

GW 2017 Freedom 235 Water in Bilge

Haven't checked in a couple of years??? That said, there is no way with your limited info to make a determination of the cause but you need to have it looked at. As mentioned, there are many possible sources. The first thing I would try is to turn off ALL seacocks, go for a decent run and then...

    Repowering

Not repowered but rather 'powered'. Grady offered a single diesel i/o version of the Sailfish. Great boat but maintenance was costly.

Cavitation Plate location relative to hull

Then, than, further, farther, lesser, fewer and a myriad of other often misused words. Listing to the local newscasters can be painful for me. Then there is the Oxford comma issue:) https://www.grammarly.com/blog/what-is-the-oxford-comma-and-why-do-people-care-so-much-about-it/ Finally, my...

Cavitation Plate location relative to hull

On plane, at cruise with the motors trimmed perpendicular to the water. The water should pass above the highest water pickup point on the lower unit but below the anti-ventilation plate. This video may be helpful

    Fuel fill labels

    That makes sense.

    Fuel fill labels

Hmmmm. That is opposite to what I thought. If the rear fill is the forward tank and the forward fill is the rear tank, the fuel fill and vent hoses have to cross each other and that isn't optimal

    300 Marlin Rode

If your Delta works well, why change? The amount of line you need depends on what depth, water conditions and durations you typically anchor. In addition, there is a practical limit to how much line your locker can accommodate. For me in calmish seas, I figure 3 to 5 times the depth for line...

    Thru-hull leak 98 Adventure 208

So Dennis how do you really feel about 5200? :) You did ask a good question that I hadn't though of. Perhaps the OP is referring to a scupper through hull . That's a whole different ball game.

    Fuel fill labels

Usually the fills are in the same order as the tanks. That is to say, that the forward most fill would be for the forward most tank. As to which tank is the main and which is the aux is usually determined as the aux being the smaller capacity. If you pull off the deck access plates over the...

    Thru-hull leak 98 Adventure 208

After removing the thru hull, check the condition of the inside edge of the hole to make sure it is not mush. If it is you need to get the rot out and re-epoxy the coring around the hole. For resealling the cleaned out voids, use epoxy thickened with a filler made to the consistency of thick...

    Roughest Seas You’ve Endured - Seafarer 228?

The worst I can remember experiencing was 50 knot winds and 30 foot seas. Yep, it was rough. Thank goodness the ship's bar was open. That was in the Caribbean on a large cruise ship:)

    1999 209 escape propeller question

If there is extra weight aft or the motor is mounted too deep, if the ventilation plate is too low at rest, the stern will suck down under power and that will raise the bow. Experiment with different trim settings of the motor to see if that helps. What year hull? what hole is the motor mounted in?

    1999 209 escape propeller question

A 200 hp ( 4 stroke I presume) should be plenty of power for that hull. What year is the hull? You may have additional weight aft that affects the performance. What are your WOT revs and speeds? Speed should be measured by GPS not by the speedo n the dash. The numbers for the prop may be...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

Is the tank vent separate or built into the gas fill fitting? If external, is it possible that when the bilge filled with water that the gas vent was under water?

Fuel tank for generator (empty or full)

What does matter more than full or not is adding a treatment to diesel fuel. All kinds of nasties can grow in it. It's one area where I would recommend adding a fuel treatment regularly, not just for storage.
