    Venting problem??

first, the vents are inside of the fill caps. if you look closely, you should see the vent slit at the bottom of the cap threads. wnen you fuel up, you should hear an air gushing noise coming out of the fill. if not, the vent is plugged. also, if you are using a fill nozzle that completely...

upgrading from gulfstream to a 265

'm not sure 350's are needed in the 28 to 30 range (even the 330's were running 300hp prior to 2008) the new f300's or f250's would be great. with the 350's, i get 1 to 1.1 mpg across the cruise range. that's full fuel and half water. more towards 1.1 as the fuel burns off. i use xl4 props...

upgrading from gulfstream to a 265

i'm not trying to sell you on anything, but i really suggest some test drives before you write off a larger hull (even the 28/29 range if you don't want to go further up). fwiw, i go out most of the time by myself. the thruster helps a lot in cross winds, but other than that, it's an easy to...

upgrading from gulfstream to a 265

personally, l wouldn't do that. you would be moving to a boat that is very close in size to what you have now. when we bought our '02 gulfstream, the 265 was part of the comparision. imho, i think you would be more satisfied moving into the marlin/30 express range. fwiw, we upgraded to a...

Anyone with a new boat rusting?

you should definitely contact the dealer and have it tended to. if it is defective, they should replace it. that said, water could wind up inside the windline collapsible ladders if they lay relatively flat. mine does and i lift it to drain and polish every now and then. no rust though after...

Excessive water in forward bilge 305 Express

does your rear deck hatch swing open on hinges? if so, check that also. the gasket might be collapsed or not there. good luck, ron

    Bilge drainage

all bilge areas should be open to each other with limber holes. this is especially true with the fuel compartment so that it can drain out. GW actually recommends frequent fresh water flushing of the exterior of the fuel tanks to guard against corrosion. a "plugged" compartment would fill up...

    Wet Foam in Bracket

you might want to give GW a call. can't help with that year, but my '02 232 was not made with foam in the bracket.

Excessive water in forward bilge 305 Express

i would also check to see if it is fresh or salt. fresh could indicate a water tank leak. if it's salt, make sure you go over every thru hull and hose clamp (including scuppers). i would make this a very high priority as fiberglass boats don't generally take water unless there is a leak...

    Cut thru hull for transducer

GW are not cored below the waterline. your hull is about an inch of fiberglass. you can call GW customer service and they will put your mind at ease. good luck, ron

    4 blade vs 3 blade on a 360 Express w/2 350's

yeah, can't help. but what about calling yamaha and seeing if there is any shop in the area that has demo props. you already know that i have said the 330 performance is night and day. loss of top end, but the control is incredibly improved. max mpgs over a wider range of rpms/speed and...

    Pump out problem

sounds like a loose connection or clamp. possibly on the discharge hose itself. or gasket around the level monitor. i would say "follow your nose" and you will probably id the culprit. i do get the air coming in the vent hose which you can hear during pump out. good luck, ron

    Pump out problem

are you talking about a land based pump out or the macerator? if land based, you may be hearing air being sucked into the tank vent. if macerator, there could be a problem with the pump itself. what head system is in your boat? ron

    Lost all house power

if you consider you have average skills, a quick troubleshooting may be worthwhile. the manuals are pretty good with level of detail. it could be something simple that a little time and a multimeter might point to. then if you are uncomfortable doing the fix, you can bring it to the shop with...
