    Forward spot light

i don't go out at night much, but i put a golight portable wired remote on my 232. i attached the "shoe" to the hardtop and the light slides into it when you need it. plugs into the 12vdc outlet. it also has a suction mount. keeping it out of the weather until you need it certainly makes it...

How important is a G2 Vision card in a Garmin 5212?

get to garmin's site and read the details of the g2 vision. they are a lot of money and if you don't need those features, santa could probably come up with a better boy toy. like i said, you already have all the nav charts. ron

vent whistle -- no more fuel spills!

yeah, they have been around "forever" in one shape or another. i just figure if they really worked, they would be standard on all boats. ron

How important is a G2 Vision card in a Garmin 5212?

that unit has full coastal navigation charts preloaded. the g2 vision adds bells and whistles. you can go over to tht and do a search. lots of opinions on whether the are or are not worth it. you do need the g2 vision to do auto-guidance. ron

    Putting away for the winter

can't help other than to say you should be dropping the locks once the engine is raised. it takes the strain off the cylinders. ron

    Express 265/305 v. Marlin 300 v. Chesapeake 290

no real help from me, but i wonder why you include the 265. very different than the other three (which are all kind of in spitting distance from each other). ron

    Grady White Factory Tour

it's a great tour. at the end, you'll understand where the money goes. they walk you through pretty much everything. only design/engineering is verboten for obvious reasons. have fun, ron

    07 33 express aft bilge

i don't know if they changed the make in 2009, but i have the snap in model. you have to reach way down and push the tabs in then pop out the pump from the screwed down housing. i did it to check to see it was clear. then just replace the pump (i would not expect it to be uncomplicated)...

    Canvas/eisenglass/ 2008 Gulfstream 232

sounds like they are no longer installing the zip panels. maybe someone here knows why. in the absence of a valid reason for them not to be there, you could have a local canvas guy put in one on each side. that way you can roll them up without unsnapping. (i used this feature consistently on...

    Canvas/eisenglass/ 2008 Gulfstream 232

just unzip them and roll them up - that's what the zippers in the panel are for. don't unsnap the part that attaches to the top of the windshield. when you're done, unroll them and zip them back up. that should do it. when you unsnap the windshield parts, the panels will shrink. i always...

    Canvas/eisenglass/ 2008 Gulfstream 232

yes it's normal to shrink. however, my '02 232 had zipper sections in the front panels so you could unzip and roll them up. you did not unsnap the panel. you may have seen them referred to as "smiley faces". is this no longer part of the canvas on the new models? ron

    Green Cleaner

i don't know how "green', but i've been using the starbrite seasafe wash & wax for many years. downside is $20 a quart, but i try to buy on sale. i also use Orange Blast (Greased Lightening)as a spray cleaner and pretreat when needed; supposed to be all natural. i get it at lowes for a few...

Rent a trailer to bring my 268 Islander home?

have you trailered a boat that big before? do you have an adequate tow vehicle? if either is answered "no", it might cost you a whole lot more to diy. i'm a little surprised that a haul from lbi to flemington is going to be that expensive, especially since a trailer for that size boat is not...

    Livewell washdown conversion

agree, but high powered pumped water can get into places. i have a galvanic isolator under my gunwale and next to that the shore power breaker. the battery/fuel cutoff panel is not truly "watertight". the tackle storage area also not very watertight and that leads into cabin/bilge area. the...
