    2001 Grady White Seafarer 226

Hi, I think the only way you can judge if the price is fair is to find other examples of that boat for sale and compare price, condition, options/equipment, etc. For example: the following listing seems like a fair price. I say "seems", because I am assuming it would survey well and the motor...

    Trailer costs?

Honestly, I think they are doing you right, by saying they need to see it first. They need to know what they are getting into. I could easily see them quoting four hours and it turning into a day and half (just the way things go sometimes.)

    First Grady!

I don't think there is a requirement. I don't recall it being an issue when I did mine.

What does a “test” propeller do?

My guess is that it somehow recreates/simulates "load".

    Freedom 255 Delta anchor?

"Finally, it is said that stainless anchors have a fairly limited lifespan. Many cruisers replace stainless anchors regularly (5 to 10 years)" If this is true; F'in WOW!

    Update or upgrade?

a 23 is much smaller than a 26 and won't work if all five kids are with you (plus they grow) just my $00.02

    Freedom 255 Delta anchor?

I agree with 9 lb sounding light. I also concur with the chain comment. FWIW - I'd skip the stainless anchor unless I was 99% certain it would never get snagged (and therefore lost). I really like the look, but would hate myself for spending the extra coin and then having it get lost. Just my...

    Power 225 up to 300 24 offshore

Get the 300. It's a great motor and the extra power won't hurt. A Zuke would be a good option and although it would require new/different controls, the price difference might equal things out, so it's worth investigating. It may even be the the new Yamaha won't be compatible with the older...

    Need Insurance Recommendation

^^^I have SeaInsure (via NH Insurance via AIG). I have an email out to SeaInsure regarding how far from land my coverage is in effect. I could not find a reference to a specific distance from shore (e.g. 10, 20, 30 miles). I will provide an update when I hear back from them.

    283 vs 306 canyon

Hi, To be sure, there are many ways to look at... For me, it's not about running balls to the wall and bashing through waves. It's about being able to run at lower speeds, while on plane without coming off plane. I am not saying the F250s won't keep the boat on plane, because I don't know that...
