    283 vs 306 canyon

Small World!! I am very happy with it. I agree with the not very fast/efficient comment. However, neither of those was my target. I was more so interested in comfort and the rough water capability & stability. I like that the boat can hold plane at slower speeds. At around 24-26, it sort or...

    283 vs 306 canyon

I did not mean to imply that, which is why I wrote: "Now, I am not saying the boat needs the 350s, but the torque is worth the extra weight." Your post #18 seemed to imply that the F350s' extra weight would totally negate the extra HP over the F250s, which is I feel is incorrect. First off...

Newbie needs help please_FIRST boat- new vs. used GW?

Hi, IMO, if you buy a GW from out of state, but you have good local GW dealer, you should be fine. If you are buying from a GW dealer, that's even better. Don't be afraid to travel to find the right/good boat. Whatever you buy, get a survey. here is a 20' at my local dealer. They are good...

Fishermanbb... Did you buy your 306 at POE in Jan/Feb 2021?

    283 vs 306 canyon

The difference is the torque of the F350s. When I am steaming ahead and bashing into waves, my boat doesn't slow. Instead, the F350s just push it through. Now, I am not saying the boat needs the 350s, but the torque is worth the extra weight.

    283 vs 306 canyon

Hi, I have seen the boat, but don't know the boat. Baert services my boat and my prior boat. They are good people. I live in Gloucester and would be happy to look at the boat with you, if you want a second set of eyes. Also, if you use a surveyor, PM me and I will tell you one NOT to use.

    283 vs 306 canyon

Yup.. either the 28 or 30 is great. The 30 just adds more scale.

    283 vs 306 canyon

I have a 306. It feels HUGE! I think the 250s would be ok, especially if you aren't running heavy all of the time. As far as top end, it's rare you can run full throttle very often. I believe the original 306 (Bimini, I believe) came with F250s, so it's not as though someone down powered the...

What's on your list for winter projects?

"I decided this was a better route to take than a later model Grady. Used boat prices are still pretty high." Given the prices of new and late model boats, I think repowering is going to become very popular. Ditto for upgrading electronics, new upholstery, etc.

Where do you mount flags on a 375 Freedom?

Is 30" tall enough? If so, that would be a fairly innocuous solution. I would experiment with the distance between them. Keep in mind that the closed they are to the center, the less visible they will be.

Where do you mount flags on a 375 Freedom?

Yeah, you got a problem there. ;) Absent adding hardware, I don't see a solution. Are you trying to keep a clean look on the top, not wanting to drill holes, etc.? How about getting a four - six rod rocket launcher for the top? (It could them be used for flag poles, rods, gaffs, etc.

Where do you mount flags on a 375 Freedom?

On my boat, I fly the American flag from the NAV light post on my RADAR/FLIR mast. (you can see the post between the antennas in my this photo in my sig). Is that a "stock" photo of you boat? If so, a photo of your actual boat may help. :) I am assuming you don't have outriggers, so I think...

    265 anchor and rode

Yes. Each model windlass requires a specific diameter rode and chain.

    265 anchor and rode

Just an FYI, if you aren't already aware of it, you don't want to use the windlass as a winch. Instead, you should "motor up" to the anchor as you retrieve rode via the windlass. Obviously, you need to not run over the rode, so you want to go in and out of gear.
