Black/Chrome 228 Rub Rail - best fit or even OEM?

I installed the stainless cavity back rail from Taco (I think that's who made it) over my existing Grady blue insert. It wasn't too hard to install. It took about 4 hours. It looks great and is easy to polish out or repair as Dennis mentioned. I've got one good ding from where wind pushed me...

232 TANK REPLACEMENT: deck flange trimming & cross bracing

I see you have already cut yours out, so you will not need this technique for removal. However doing this for installing is necessary also. When installing, place the forward end into the cavity and keep a strap under the forward and aft ends. Then, raise the forward end as high in the cavity as...

    Gulfstream

If it is a single, go with the 300 HP. Mine has twin 175's and they handle the boat with a big load very well. Jumps on plane and gets up to 2.1 mpg at 30 mph. I would think a single 300 HP would be very close to my setup.

    New owner

Maybe this is what the PO is referring to, when he says a fiberglass coffin around the tank. On the advice of an old boat yard guy, I encased my tank in West System epoxy and fiberglass.

gas tanks on a GW 23 ' Gulfstream how do you change from the main tank to the aux tank

On my '93 there is a set of valves behind the port side compartment door near the transom. If you have 2 motors you will have 2 valves, 1 motor 1 valve. They should have labels "Main" and "Aux" to show you which direction to turn the valve. Not sure if this location holds for all years, but I...

Adventure 20 hatch and gel coat repair

I have found when tinting gelcoat or marine-tex, brown is the only color I need. I tried yellow and I couldn't get it right. You are correct, very surprising how little tint you need. I have several hatches that need I need to do, thanks for posting your progress and steps.

    offshore 24 fuel tank

On the advice of an old boat yard guy, I coated mine in West System 105 epoxy and a layer of chopped strand fiberglass to minimize any future pitting or corrosion issues. Everywhere my tank touched something, it had pitting corrosion, mostly on the top of the tank.

Very nice, it looks similar to mine.

    pull 268 Islander fuel tank

I don't know if this is relevant to the 268, but on my Gulfstream 232 I thought there was no way I was going to get the tank out without major cutting to the forward area. My tank measured 63" long and the opening is around 60". However, I thought if I could raise it high enough in the...

Gulfstream Year Questions - Transom Seat

My 1993 Gulfstream does not have the built in seat, so it wasn't in 1992. Mine has the fold down cutting table that converts to a seat.

    Cabin cushions for Gulfstream

Contact customer service at Grady. They are very helpful, even on older boats. I would try emailing your questions.

GW Gulfstream 232 Transom Ladder Mod?

I do have a handle mounted by the ladder that helps. It is mounted just above the rub rail.

GW Gulfstream 232 Transom Ladder Mod?

How many steps does your current ladder have? My 1993 Gulfstream original ladder only had two steps, so I added a four step model in its place. That helped tremendously with getting out of the water on to the swim platform.

Anyone add a 2nd Bilge pump in the stern of their boat?

To put the flow rates in perspective for a leak. Let's assume you forget to put in your drain plug. Assuming about a 3/4" diameter hole for the missing drain plug, and 24 inches below the water line results in leak of about 933 gallons per hour (GPH). Most bilge pumps are rated above that...

Anyone add a 2nd Bilge pump in the stern of their boat?

Sdfish, I have a 1993 Gulfstream. It has pretty good access to the stern bilge area. 3-4 inches should keep it mostly dry, unless it is needed.

Anyone add a 2nd Bilge pump in the stern of their boat?

I will add my two cents: I added a second bilge pump in the stern of my Grady. I mounted it and its float switch about 3 inches higher than the other. Two reasons I think mounting it higher is better: one, it doesn't turn on all of the time and compete with the lower bilge pump, two, it rarely...

    Fresh Water Engine Flush

On occasions where I knew I would be docking without fresh water access, I brought a 5 gallon bucket filled with fresh water. I added a small bilge pump with a 12V connector and a garden hose and male garden hose fitting. I could then pump a few gallons of water and Salt-Away (either add to...

    228 Seafarer chalky rubrail

Has anyone considered adding 3/4" wide, hollow back, stainless steel rub rail on top of the blue insert piece? You never have to deal with the faded insert again. It also gives the boat the look of the newer Grady's.

Gulfstream 232g Survey and Scupper issue?

My 1993 Gulfstream with twin Yamaha 175 HPDI 2 strokes, sits with the scuppers about 1 inch below the water line under normal load. It has float ball valves attached to the scuppers to minimize water coming up into the deck when standing in the drain areas. The ball valves work well at...

    Plastic Fuel Tanks

Very interested in this thread. I was looking at the same tanks from Moeller. Is there any downside? I assume they can handle Ethanol.
