    Adding a crows nest?

My 1993 Gulfstream had a custom tower installed by the previous owner. I don't notice any stability issues when driving or anchored. Of course I've only owned it with the tower, and don't know what it felt like before.

    Need Gulfstream Info

My 1993 Gulfstream has 1 larger (not sure of size) house battery behind the starboard door (in your picture) and 2 group 24 starting batteries behind the port door. I'm not sure if this is the original setup, but the weight balances well.

    !@#$% horn installation

I recently replaced my horn. The previous owner had replaced it before me and the headliner had been cut and then glued back with silicone sealant. Not the prettiest repair, but i think there is no way around cutting the carpet headliner to make a splice.

    232 Gulfstream questions

I have a 1993 Gulfstream and I found some stainless ones that worked from McMaster Carr. I'll see if I can find a link to them.

    water tank leak

You have to remove the tackle station under the port seat to access the water tank. On my 1993 Gulfstream, you just remove the perimeter screws and pull out the tackle unit.

Mine are just over 60 inches measured to the outside. The bunks are 4 inches wide

    New to board

I have a '93 Gulfstream as well. My rating plate says 350 Hp max. I know newer ones are rated for 400 Hp. In regards to Balsa in the hull sides: I drilled a hole for a new thru-hull well above the water line on the aft port side and it was plywood there. I don't know if there is Balsa...

    Who is right?

capeguy, I'm in total agreement with what you stated above. If it is not a safety issue with your wake, then a few waves are not going to hurt another boat in the channel, especially one the same size as yours. If they don't want to get hit by wakes while fishing, fish somewhere else.

Propeller Change on Sailfish - slip percentage

To calculate did you go out and record your speed and RPM and then calculate %slip by computing the theoretical speed using the prop pitch and RPM? That is interesting, I think I might go out and record mine now in case I ever re-prop.

    Stero Troubles

Yes I think I did have to hold the reset in while I powered the unit. See if you can find a manual for your stereo online, it will have the specific instructions for your unit. The reset did fix my unit that was not working.

    Stero Troubles

Sometimes there is a small reset button you have to hold in with a pin as you power up that will reset everything. I've had to do this on a Jensen marine stereo before that quit working. Not sure if yours has this or not. Mine was behind the face plate on the main body of the stereo.

    Bilge pump questions

I don't know how common it is to have two. I had one fail, so I like to have back-up. I think I've seen having two mentioned in BoatUS magazine. If you think about it they sit in dirty bilge water most of the time (they can't pump the last bit out), they could jam from debris or just fail...

Added an inverter to my Sailfish

ocnslr, is the area in your transom where you installed your Prowatt 1000 exposed to bilge moisture? I was considering installing a Prowatt on my Gulfstream near the house battery, but have been concerned about humidity from the bilge (my battery area in the transom is exposed to the bilge)...

    Trouble with Toshiba DVD player

On some of my computers, the CD/DVD tray has a small pin hole for manual opening. You can stick the end of a paper clip in the hole to release the tray. The pin hole is on the front of the tray on the laptop I'm looking at now. I hope this helps.

    Bilge pump questions

The second pump does serve as a back up should the first one fail. I had this happen on a boat before, why I installed two. Obviously there can be conditions that no pump could overcome, but better to have back up and extra capacity to give you more time to get to safety or make a repair, if...

    Bilge pump questions

I rigged 2 Rule 1100 GPH bilge pumps in my rig. I mounted the second one about 2 inches higher than the one in the lowest part of the bilge. The second one serves as a back-up in case the first one fails or can't keep up. Both of mine have separate float switches mounted at the levels of the...
