Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

I have no idea how to do that. It's just a sheet of aluminum, the biggest is the roof. I'll ask Charlie.

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

That's exactly the plan, so the curve runs it over to the corner and then up. No sight obstruction. That's kind of the whole point of this hardtop, I want to chase tuna and I want to be looking through glass.

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

Well, I was planning on having it come off the helm where the hard top was, go over to the corner and go up to the box from there. As part of this, I'm listening to Jens M, and I'm going to put an extension NEMA 2000 bus up top. So what goes in the tube: - ethernet - NEMA 2000 - power and...

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

Boxes built. Still being welded to the roof, once that is done, Charlie will cut the face open, leaving a small lip that I'll use to screw on a starboard face. My 9 inch display will get flush mounted in the center and I'll have doors to either side. The space between the back wall and the...

Hairline cracks in 2020 228 hardtop?

The guy building my pilot house thinks that it might be trails from the welder dragging the tip. I'm gonna carefully compare front and back to see if the "crack" line follows the same path.

Need info on Grady aluminum paint

I'm having a pilot house built to replace my hardtop (no more bar where I want to see) and I have been advised to paint it rather than powder coat it. I want to paint it to match the hull and I asked Grady and they told me this: Ratio for Paint: 4:1:2 1 quart of paint (09-037) 1 pint of paint...

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

The corners over hang but they are plated on the bottom so the plate comes back to where the curve was. More pics when I get them, probably monday. And, yeah, I'm digging how it looks. Though the look was pretty motivated by wanting big boxes up top.

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

Beginnings of the pilot house. The 3rd picture is my fave, I'm pretty happy with how that turned out. Charlie wanted to tilt the roof down in the front, I didn't. A buddy got one, also on a 228, and his roof is 7 inches lower in the front. It's a different look. I wanted mine higher so I...

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

Removing the hard top (the blanket around the excavator boom is because I have a hydraulic leak, this was my "fix" so I didn't leak on the boat. Lame, I know, but it worked). The windshield is for sale, the hardtop is going to Peter (first picture).

Hairline cracks in 2020 228 hardtop?

The thing that has me worried is the vertical cracks are on both sides of the plate and they match. The reason I care is I'm selling the hardtop to a friend, I want it to be in good condition. I'll be talking to the dealer as well.

    Best dealer for parts/prices remotely?

Well sometimes you need a dealer. I need primer/paint for the pilot house I'm putting on and I don't know what that is.

Hairline cracks in 2020 228 hardtop?

Yeah, sorry, fixed. It wasn't anything super secret but no need to be there. Thanks!

    Best dealer for parts/prices remotely?

Turns out that our local Grady dealer got bought by a Boston Whaler company. They say they are gonna support Grady but they don't know for how long. So I need to find a dealer that will get me parts at a decent price and is willing to mail them. A buddy said there is a big Grady dealer in...

Hairline cracks in 2020 228 hardtop?

Take a look at http://mcvoy.com/lm/phone/2024/33.html and hit the space bar to go to through 5 more pictures. See the hairline cracks? Easier to see on a computer. Are those normal or do I talk to Grady about them? And, yes, they were all there before I took the top off (I'm replacing it with...

Please make a Coastal Explorer in a 20 or 21 foot model

The only thing I can think of is Grady does most of their business in warmer waters. I'm with 100% with you, I love my walkaround, it's warm.

    Marine decking questions

I looked into seadek, had some guys come out and measure my boat. They set my expectations at $2000 and then came back with a quote over $7000. No thanks. In retrospect, I'm much happier with the stuff I put in. Seadek is really hard to clean if any blood dries on it. The stuff I have is...

    Marine decking questions

I put this on my boat, they actually stuck my picture up in their gallery, my boat is the one past the pontoon boat, black decking in a 228. I did the install myself, I'm no expert but I'm happy with how it fits. As for cleaning, my decking is in 2 big pieces. I can pick up a piece at a time...
