    Outriggers on a 228?

Where did you get that wedge on top. Can you go into more detail on the mounting? I'm getting the same setup. Edit: I found the taco made backing plates and the wedges. Ky, do you remember how big of a plate you could fit under the hard top?

    Outriggers on a 228?

I want some outriggers, leaning towards 16 foot Taco carbon fiber. Who has done this and what did you do and are you happy?

    228 repower fuel numbers

My 2020 Yamaha 250 has averaged 2.2mpg over 2700 miles. Yeah, it's possible to get better but it rarely happens on the Pacific, it tends to be choppy out there and that hurts the mpg.

Fitted trailer bunks for a 22' Seafarer?

Get an end tie at a harbor, get some actual bunk felt, pull those bunks and redo them with the felt. I have this and it's easy on, easy off: https://pacifictrailers.com/products/boat-trailer-bunk-carpet-11-wide-sold-by-the-foot-tb-2248-66 That plastic or whatever that stuff is, looks like it...

Anyone Offshore in an Adventure 208?

Just to echo the other people, it's the experience of the skipper that matters. I know a guy who used to go 30-40 miles off shore in an 18 foot center console Grady (he runs a Canyon 271 these days). You need to go out in a following sea, a head sea, a cross sea with a decent swell, say...

Water level - scuppers - new engine

As I posted in a different thread, I had it apart recently (there was a twig in there keeping it open) and there was zero corrosion, it was like new. And the boat gets fished once/week on average. This solution works so much better than brand new rubber flaps, I'll check it annually and if it...

Water level - scuppers - new engine

This one: http://lansdalevalve.com/products/product/brass-swing-check-valve and it looks like this in the boat:

Water level - scuppers - new engine

I had the same problem in a brand new 228. I put swinging check valves in the hoses and the problem went away.

    Walk-around vs true fishing boat

If you could find the most recent vintage sailfish, I'm with whoever pushed you towards that. If Grady made a sailfish cabin on the 271 hull now, I'd own one. I believe they stopped making them in 2012 or so. Sadly.

    Walk-around vs true fishing boat

If you don't need to trailer, and you are able to afford a 232, I'd say get it. And I say that as a happy 228 owner. 232 is just a step up. Don't get me wrong, I'll do offshore tuna runs in my 228, it's fine. I'd be happier in a 232. Though what I really want is a walk around config on the...

    360/370 express questions

I don't have the 300 but I have the same block in my 250. I fish with people who have the 300s and they love them. No issues. The 350s I feel like I've heard about more problems with them, maybe they are sorted but you are looking at used so you may get the ones with problems. I'd push you...

    Walk-around vs true fishing boat

There is absolutely no question, the 232. If you look through the posts, there is a guy here who has had (some with his dad) something like 14 different gradies. He said the 232 was the best of the them. No offense to 218 owners but I think that was a compromise boat to replace both the 208...

    Boat carpet update

One gotcha I figured out yesterday. I had some long scraps left over and I laid them in the walkway. Unlike the main carpet, I didn't pull them up when I washed the boat. That's a mistake, dirt gathers under them and it's a pain to clean. I like them in the walkways, I just have to add...

    Boat carpet update

My feet are completely screwed, I have to wear tennis shows with custom inserts just to be able to stand and walk so I have no idea. I suspect it does get hot, if I were to do this all over again, I'd get some tan color that is not as bright as the gelcoat but not as dark as what I got. I'm...

Swing check valve in the 228 update

It was a lot but the system wasn't working. And truth be told, it was not as much as it sounds like. I'm kind of disabled, I have a screwed up body, so big projects are not fun. This one was easy, I didn't do it out on the ocean, I did it in my driveway, had to go to the shop a couple of...

Swing check valve in the 228 update

Some of you might remember that I was unimpressed with the little rubber flappers that are supposed to prevent water from coming in the scuppers. So I put in swing check valves (pic below) but lately the starboard side one was not working, we'd be standing in water back there. So I undid the...

    Boat carpet update

Thanks again for the pointer to that company. We shall see if I come back in a year whining about stink, I don't think so, in the worst case, I think I bleach it if the pressure washer doesn't work. So far it is working. I really like this stuff, I'll probably buy some more to do the walkway.

    Trailer opinions please...

At least the ones I have from Pacific Trailer are quite stout. I looked at the DIY ones from Amazon etc, and they were flimsy. My guide ons straighten out my ~3 ton boat just fine. That's asking a lot of 4+ foot upright that is supported from the bottom only. I think you get what you pay...

    help with 12" displays

If you go look at the Garmin specs, the 12s and 16s (86xx series) are actually the same or slightly lower resolution. So there isn't really any reason to go bigger than 10s. I'm very happy with my 8610xsv.

    Trailer opinions please...

That's exactly what I paid but they aren't pvc pipes. They are 3x galvanized square tubes with C channel uprights and 2x6 felted bunks. I can come in cock eyed to the trailer and they will straighten out the boat and will not let me scrape my bottom on the fenders. Complete game changer for...
