Drain plugs in rear deck scuppers?

Have any Grady owners had success with these? Any issues?

Drain plugs in rear deck scuppers?

I've got a kicker on my 228's swim platform so I have a lot of weight on the back of the boat. When crabbing, with people standing back there, water comes in the scuppers that drain out the two rear corner drains. So you are standing in water. Not a fan. So far, it is really rare that I need...

Considering Grady White...would like some feedback

I've been on the 271 Canyon and I'd encourage you to look harder at it. GW reuses their hulls, mostly, for CC, DC, and walk arounds. So they are a compromise. The 271 Canyon, for reasons unknown, is CC only and it is better in chop in my opinion. I almost bought a 300 marlin, put the money...

Adding power assist to a 228?

I'm Garmin for most of my stuff but haven't added the autopilot yet. So I have some freedom there.

Adding power assist to a 228?

I will look and see if I can figure anything out. I need to make sure there aren't kinked lines but if there were, wouldn't it be hard to steer all the time? It's easy under way. I'm going to add autopilot so I think I'll do what Steve did and add a pump that does both.

Adding power assist to a 228?

That's what I'm looking for. Is it compat with all the different brands of autopilot or is there one it likes?

Adding power assist to a 228?

I'm looking at adding an assist pump to my boat, I dunno why, but my steering isn't easy and I want to link the kicker and main engine. I'm also looking at adding autopilot and I know that wants its own pump. My questions are: a) if you have hydraulic pump assist, do you still need another...

What size foot cushion for a modern 228?

My boat is at the shop and I have an itchy wallet. Want to get some softness for my feet. Anyone know the size at the helm?

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

So I never want to say anything bad about Grady but those cats they made have a horrible reputation, they apparently didn't work well, Grady didn't get how to make a cat. My local dealer was all in on them, got one, thought they would sell like crazy, people rode it and hated it. I'm still...

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

I rode on the 32 foot World Cat today and that is my next boat. I apologize to all of you Grady buds for bringing a non Grady boat into the forum. I love you guys, this forum is the best, so much help, so much welcoming people, you guys are the best. If Grady made a decent cat, even if it...

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

I have 1400 miles on my 228's 250hp, 99% of those with the engine trimmed all the way forward because there is where I like it. The boat works really well with it there. The difference in how the boat drives with my single engine trimmed forward vs straight up and down is just a little bit...

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

Thanks for this, all the nay sayers were getting me down. All I want is a fast warm comfy ride home and I think the Cat might provide that. Getting on one this weekend, I'll report back. And to all the people saying you need to drive a Marlin and a World Cat in the slop, do you have any idea...

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

If you watch that whole video he is absolutely saying use your engines to control how the boat rides in the water. Watch it again from 1:35 to the end, if you don't get that he is saying trim the boat with the engine, I don't know what to say. And I've followed his advice and it works great...

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

At 1:35 "Personally I'd much rather use the engine to control the attitude of the boat" I drive mostly standing but when my feet are screaming I'll get on the seat for a bit.

Most excellent advice, why didn't I think of that?

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

There really isn't much difference between a trimmed forward engine and a little trim tab both sides, they are both pushing the bow down and the stern up. There is a Grady trim tab video on youtube where they say to do what I do it. For most conditions, the boat is happy with the engine there...

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

When people make comments about cats, can you please say which make/model cat? I'm looking at a 32 foot World Cat, it's night and day different from the Grady cat made ~25 years ago for example.

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

I've mentioned this elsewhere but... I have some sort of disease or problem with my feet. They hurt the more I use them, used to be hugely into backpacking/fly fishing but simply can't handle that anymore. I can't handle a half mile walk. So when I said a fast comfortable ride home, I meant...

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

So to be clear, it's not that a Marlin can't handle 2 foot chop, it certainly can. I'm in the Pacific, home harbor is Santa Cruz. Our conditions tend to start out nice in the morning and over the course of the day the winds pick up. It's very common to be out in 5'@8s swell, which is no big...
