Water in the cavity of the swim platform on a 228?

Thanks all, seems like I should have looked harder. It's early and dark here but I'll get out there and see later.

Water in the cavity of the swim platform on a 228?

As you may know, I have a 2020 228 with the modern swim platform. That platform is supported by a sort of hollow "box" which has an opening covered by a hatch. I must have not tightened that hatch or something because there is water in there. Doesn't seem to have a drain, if there is one, I...

    Deal gone south

He included a link about it, it is a legit concern if you are caught with $20K in cash, the cops can just "decide" that you are a criminal and take the cash. You don't get it back unless you can prove you aren't a criminal. If he is looking for an affordable boat, he probably doesn't have the...

    Deal gone south

I'm a tractor guy as well as a boat guy. I bought a small construction tractor that came from Michigan. I convinced the guy to drive it out here. How we did the financials was an escrow account, which is pretty easy. That way the seller knew that I had the money, he had the tractor, I got to...

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

This is why I like this forum better than my local forum, the local is full of salty old grumps who say "Stop asking questions, just go run your boat". There is some truth to that but I find the advice here very useful. Thanks to all of you. So with tabs, one reason I've used the sparingly is...

    Deal gone south

Don't be me, have any boat that you make an offer on, surveyed. I paid $25K for my first boat that turned out to be worth $10K. Don't be me, you'll over react and buy a new Grady as your second boat :)

The only better boat than a Grady is a bigger Grady and I'm going bigger

Oh, just a couple times if by "couple" you mean hundreds

The only better boat than a Grady is a bigger Grady and I'm going bigger

Wow, I'm talking boats and tractors? Are you kidding me? This is not better than sex but it is close! I have 2 Kubota tractors, B21 and M59, and a Kubota excavator. Love all of them, they are all great machines. http://mcvoy.com/lm/tractor-tree.jpg http://mcvoy.com/lm/excavator.m4v I've...

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

I've had this conversation and if you want, I'll go find the youtube video that has Grady's tech guy saying this is exactly how you should do it. Im not finger wagging back but I've learned there are a lot of opinions about how to run a Grady. My opinion after ~2 years of running my 228, if you...

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

I run with the engine trimmed all the way forward 95-99% of the time, the only time I trim it back is in a following sea, big swells, short period. Those will make me trim it back to lift the bow a bit so I don't stuff it. I tend not to use the tabs very much because the little red indicator...

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

I've got about 1400 miles on the big engine in 17 months, don't know what's on the kicker. That's some boating :) I've been trimming the engine forward to push the bow down and using the tabs to correct leaning to one side or the other. I can add a little more tab in on both sides and see...

Guess who just learned that new Marlins come with GemLux carbon fiber outriggers

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

Yeah but I'll still fish the 228 when the 300 isn't available (not here yet, bottom paint, electronics) so I'd like it to work as well as possible. I'll mess around with the trim tabs more, I'm getting more used to them.

The only better boat than a Grady is a bigger Grady and I'm going bigger

30 years in tech and lets just say there is a reason I picked "luckydude" as my login. I used to be a lot cockier and thought I made my own luck. Not so, it's true I did a lot of hard work, that was necessary. It took that plus luck to actually make some money. These days I'm fully aware...

May is what the say but I'm not sure if that includes the shipping time.

232 is a nice boat, it is sort of the first of the big boats. I'll deal and if any of you come out to the San Francisco Bay Area, I'm in the Santa Cruz mountains, have a guest house, happy to host and take you fishing on our crappy ocean.

The only better boat than a Grady is a bigger Grady and I'm going bigger

I put down a deposit on a new Marlin 300 today. All of you Marlin owners here have said "do it, you'll love it". I saw the recent thread about someone who bought a 330 express, I priced those new, $550K or more depending on options. That is too much money taken away from my kids so I went...

    Outrigger Recomendation

Can you tell me what model boat and what Rupp riggers you got? I'm buying a Marlin and the outriggers that Grady wants to sell me are $4.7K. I'd like to figure out what I should be getting.

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

I have what Ken at Propgods said to buy, it made maybe 1/2 mile per hour stay on plane difference. That's not what I am looking for, my 228 is modern and heavy, it really wants to fall off plane around 20mph in my ocean, might be more like 19 in a really flat ocean. One of the comments in the...

    Outrigger Recomendation

I have no skin in this topic, just a bunch of online reading. Seems like the tacos are what people go with, the one boat I've been on with outriggers, they were tacos.
