    Outrigger Recomendation

He's on an Express, those things are over $500K new. And I thought Marlins are pricey.

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

I stumbled on this: https://www.amazon.com/Marine-Sport-Hydrofoil-300-SE/dp/B003L8QS36 and the comments make it sound like you can stay on plane at slower speeds. Which makes sense to me because when my engine is trimmed all the way forward it is not straight up and down, it is slightly tilted...

    Post your SeaDek/similar photos!

I was interested in Seadeck for my 228 and they came out and measured and gave me a quote of over $7K and I passed. What are you paying and are you having a pro install it? That almost $8K was with them doing everything.

What should I use to protect the cushions

I'm a bad boat owner, I let my boat get dirty. Currently working to clean it up. I've been told to use T9 on the engine block, 303 on plastic windows, but what for the cushions and bolsters? Another Grady owner says if you use a magic eraser on the cushions (I have) they will rot in the...

    Tools for cleaning the boat?

I bought the drill brushed and the water fried my Milwaukee M12 drill. So that's why I'm asking, I want those brushes or even bigger ones, but powered by something that is OK being wet.

    Tools for cleaning the boat?

I hate my boat cover so my 228 sits outside and recently there were some high winds and I have tree sap all over the boat. I know about the Magic Eraser sponges but the thought of scrubbing my entire boat with those tiny sponges makes me want to cry or something. I know there car tools like...

    Happy Thanksgiving

I respect the God bless, go you people, but here is a shout out for the non-God people. My God like space is the mountains and the ocean, any place that makes me feel small. Those places tell me I am not a big deal, they are. That's my God. That said, whatever makes it work for you is all...

What livewell pump is in a modern (2020) Marlin?

I had another 228 owner at my place today, he has a 1999 version. He said to change the pump you have to pull the livewell out and it is a pain. Given that I'm thinking about a Marlin, I think I'm just gonna deal with the noise on the 228 for now.

Stock gunnel rod holder replacement for modern 228?

Mustang, not getting on your case in the slightest, you seem like a solid dude. My main fishing buddy, who has been doing it for decades, enjoys a beer on his boat and I don't judge. That said, here is why I don't. I used to be a pretty decent pool player, not pro level but better than most...

Stock gunnel rod holder replacement for modern 228?

I get a guilty pleasure watching boat fails on youtube and I have to believe that a lot of the "brain off" is more like "booze in". I am not judging people for drinking, I do it at night, at home, when I'm not running anything. I will never drink on a boat I'm running, I think you'd have to be...

What livewell pump is in a modern (2020) Marlin?

I've looked at the bait sentry, the one they put in the Marlin is for a bigger tank, I'm inclined to put one in that is for a 30 gallon tank (I believe that the 228 has a 22-25 gallon tank). It's the smallest Bait Sentry model.

What livewell pump is in a modern (2020) Marlin?

From Eddie @ Grady-White: The 2020 the 208 and 228 used a Shurflo Pro Blaster 2 pump. Their item number is 4248-153-J09. The Marlin used a Sentry pump. Their item number is 1700-020-031. Both are a products of Pentair Flow Technologies.

    2017 Marlin?

It's not about the stand up cabin, though I do think that is a big upgrade from my 228. It is about how much a bigger boat opens up the ocean. In a bigger boat you can go more days. I'm retired, I like to fish, there are a ton of days that I look at with the 228 and go "nope, not today". The...

What livewell pump is in a modern (2020) Marlin?

I don't have access to a Marlin to look, I'll see what I can figure out.

    2017 Marlin?

This is Gary, I was on his Marlin Thursday, we got some crab and rockies. Gary is somewhat new to his Marlin and he docks it like a Boss! His harbor has very little wind so the helm master worked great. I get the feeling that it is not enough in some wind and that's why MagicBill is telling me...

What livewell pump is in a modern (2020) Marlin?

I took a ride in Gary's Marlin, the pump was almost silent. He has a 208 as well and I have a 228 and the livewell pumps are crazy noisy, louder than my kicker at 3mph. I want to replace mine with the Marlin pump but don't know what it is. Anyone know?

Stock gunnel rod holder replacement for modern 228?

Hey Unk, You aren't alone. I know a guy who won't let people help him unbutton or button up the boat, he wants to do it himself so he knows it is all done and done right. I have a different approach, I don't trust anyone, myself included, to do it right. So I do it, you do it, it doesn't...

Stock gunnel rod holder replacement for modern 228?

So this isn't going to impress anyone but it's a lesson I've learned that I'll pass on. I was out the other day halibut fishing and I used the downriggers pointed out as rod holders, to get a better spread ball bouncing. Didn't tip them in, docked, and the cord that goes to the yellow donut...

Stock gunnel rod holder replacement for modern 228?

Yep that is what I use. I used to be worried that it would come out on my ride home. Then I looked at all the waves I have launched over. It is fine, it will not come out. If that comes out your trailer is messed up, your boat is gone.
