    Removing Cabin Bolsters...

I accessed the screws from the front where the fabric splits, in my 1999 Seafarer there is a center trim piece that I separated to find the screw heads, they are recessed into the foam and can be tricky to find them through holes in the fabric

    First post!

I have a friend with a 1999 248 Voyager with twin Yamaha F150 outboards and I fished out of it on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in Nootka Sound a few years ago and was the reason I switched from a Campion to a 228G Seafarer soon afterwards they have an incredibly smooth ride. The Voyagers...

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

Lucky, I have had my 228 Seafarer for 2 seasons now with the DF250 Suzuki. When I bought the boat from an auction sale, the trim tab pump was removed and the hydraulic lines cut at the actuators, real classy move. So I have been running the boat without trim tabs so far, I did have them on my...

The only better boat than a Grady is a bigger Grady and I'm going bigger

Too funny, I was ocean fishing this past summer on a hot day, water like glass and I noticed a large Grady trolling past me in the opposite direction maybe 80 feet away, I asked one of the guys if that was an Express but he said Marlin, beautiful boat, I asked if he wanted to trade, he laughed...

    2000 Grady White 208 Adventure Hardtop - $26,000

My current top speed is about 45 mph but I need to raise my motor by about 1.5 inches, not really sure of fuel mileage as I don’t have digital gauges just old school analog. I would like to connect my Lowrance HDS 12 with NMEA 2000 to the Suzuki engine ECM network in the near future to get more...

    2000 Grady White 208 Adventure Hardtop - $26,000

I have been running a 2012 DF250 Suzuki on my 228 Seafarer the last 2 years and so far so good but I only have 250 hours on the engine. Pushes my Seafarer great fully loaded and lots of low end torque for a great hole shot. A lot of guides are running Suzuki now off the West Coast of Vancouver...

    Hazel

I believe so as I have a buddy that put a Yamaha 300hp on his 2000 228 Seafarer but you should double check with Grady staff just to be sure.

    2000 Grady White 208 Adventure Hardtop - $26,000

My thoughts exactly, although that 2 stroke would help with the hole shot, it would be better with a 200 hp on it.

Was it a Seastar tilting helm steering system?

    WTB Seafarer 228, 2000-20016

Just my opinion but I wouldn’t buy any boat with a 2 stroke unless the price factored an immediate 4 stroke repower. I realise the newer 2 strokes are more efficient but you are still burning oil. All 4 strokes are environmentally friendly, quiet and just great for their smokeless performance. I...

Dead Battery, Replaced but no power to engine - Figured it Out on Sunday

I did the exact same mistake this spring at the ramp for the first time, missed the main engine ground cable that had fallen behind the battery. There are just to many ground wires attached to the battery on my 228 so I want to install a negative Blue Sea buss bar this winter. I just can’t...

What is the 226/228 True Length for Slip Fees?

I honestly wouldn’t consider the 226 with the open transom, the 228 is just so much safer and worth the extra length, unless you are on a small lake with the 226. My 2 cents …

    Inside Passage

It’s interesting that you mention Bremner Islet area as I saw a fishing show a few weeks ago and the host was hammering springs (kings) there. I have wondered how much of a run it would be past Pine Island? ie 30 minutes or so. I have fished Cape Sutil quite a bit, very productive especially...

    Inside Passage

That trip is on my bucket list. I would like to first try a trip to Rivers Inlet as a test as Cape Caution is a big hurdle just by itself. I have fished an hour north of Port Hardy numerous times but haven’t ventured further North.

    Source for stripes?

hullstripes.com is also an option but I believe there is a minimum of 50 ft orders, I only need about 12 or so feet of replacement stripes myself so haven’t ordered any

Who do you have your boat insured through?

My insurance company needed a recent survey before they would quote me insurance last year. I told them that I was only interested in the purchase/build value since it was a project boat. This is up in British Columbia, I guess they had too many scams in the past.

    WTB Grady White 208 Adventure

Mr MFH, you may have seen it but there is a 228 with a hardtop for sale on Seattle Craigslist Eastside, may be an option if the hardtop for the 208 is too expensive, not sure of your price range.
