232 TANK REPLACEMENT: deck flange trimming & cross bracing

Used a Sawzall to trim the lip slightly. Was both easy to do and a giant mess. Even dust got all over the inside of my cuddy cabin. Nothing a shop vac and a few cold beers can't handle.

    Cracked block?

As Skunk said, If you have it out of the water and trim engine down it will be fine. I use my boat during the winter months and keep her outside in a dry storage marina. It freezes every night, and it is no problem for the engines and hull. Motors drain well after use but you have to trim...

    cost of trailer

Pacific Trailer $6,800 after Fred Ward show discount. Have no idea who he is, but I accepted it. West Coast has limited choices and pricey, but am happy with the build.

Holokai, That is my thought too with regards to the swim ladder.

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

The only reason that I will keep it in gear while securing the bow is because the boat will roll back down off the rollers if I turn off the engine. I put the boat shift in neutral position first and see if it will stay on the trailer. If is starts to slip backward, I bump it forward then leave...

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

As an older hull owner, not climbing on the swim ladder keeps additional stress off the transom too. Might not make a long term difference, but then again.... I am still using the original transom from 1987.

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

Hey Dennis! On my 228, if I had to use the swim ladder, the first step would be on my rear jump seat cushions, which is not ideal. I think the side is much more convenient to board, especially for guests. They are always nervous getting over the gunwale without falling. Except kids. They are...

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

Never even tried. I leave the engine in gear like Dennis said, and stepped on my truck bumper from the dock, and then walked on the trailer frame and hooked it up from underneath. Never got wet :). If you do not have a dock, that might be possible, but much tougher from above I would think?

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

Yes I power loaded, slowly at first to let the rollers do their thing and center the boat, and then enough throttle to drive it until it almost hit the stop at the winch, then I would crank her in the last foot or two. I could never replicate the process every time because of variables like the...

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

I had them on my old roller trailer. They were useful as "guides" as I would drive the boat onto the trailer. They were not strong enough to keep the vessel from sliding sideways on very windy days they would bend and I would straighten them upright again once I was onshore. They bent maybe 6"...

    Cover for 228 with Softtop

I use this Carver for my 228 with soft top. There is a small gap of maybe 2" where there is not enough material to seal up the boat 100% mid-ship. I can live with that. Hope it helps ya.

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

Amen for the addition of a ladder on my bunks too :) I had to use the fender on my old trailer, but that got old fast.
