    1999 Adventure 208 Hull Problems

The soft deck worries me more than the cracks in the transom. The transom cracks probably do indicate a wet transom, expensive to replace but we know what is entailed. The soft deck on the other hand may be just a soft core of the deck sole or an indication of more extensive issues. There may...

    Raw water pumps

You made me think about the seacock. I open mine for the winter to protect the inside plumbing should water somehow get into or get left in the plumbing

Grady Canyon 306 owner question re shore power

The bow thruster is probably powered by a battery or batteries that are not charged by the outboards. So if you want to be sure it is usable, you would need to charge it using shore power. If it is charged and you don't use it, it will still be usable on the next outing. You will have to learn...

    Raw water pumps

Are you sure there are no clogs in the feed side, hull scoop, seacock etc? The pump should last longer that a year ( it may be still under warranty). Did you winterize it for the off season?

    Fuel Tank gage issues

By the very nature of boats and hull angles, the gauge is not as precise as folks think. Just by walking around the deck can change the angle of the tank and that will skew the reading. If everything was level and not moving, the flashing bar , when it starts flashing does not mean the tank is...

2 Fuel tanks built for 1990 Sailfish. Never used. I was restoring a Grady-White 252 Sailfish. Give me a call 727-512-6101

Pose where the tanks are located. Shipping for tanks can be quite expensive.

    Fuel issue

Do you have enemies? Have you added ant treatments to the gas recently? Is the sand like material hard or can you mash it? Which filters had the sand i them and how did you determine that? For example, did you drain the gas from the filter into a clear jar to see what settled out. Did you...

That's classic signs of common crevice corrosion caused by moisture seeping into the poorly sealed bolt hole, bracket and washer. It does not automatically mean the transom is damaged by rot. I might expect an area of elevated moisture around the mounting bolt but that in itself is not a big...

Replacing thru hulls on 2000 Adventure, Is it worth the trouble? does not look easy to do

To get to some of the plumbing, you would have to cut new access holes. There just isn't an easier way to get to the spaces you need to access. I agree about leaving them alone or painting. Bronze lasts a long time but the way it breaks down is not obvious like regular rust and corrosion are...

Wow, I was expecting an argument from somebody about my 350 comment since I usually get grief each time I make comments:) There is still time I guess.

Shore Power on 2002 Marlin 300

The charger can be left on 'all the time' as long as it is not a cheap trickle chatger but rather a smart charger that adjusts to battery conditions. If you use a cheap charger, it can over charge you battery and shorten its life. Using your dc powered devices with the charger operating is fine...

    VHF Anetnna

If the splice was mechanical with a special coupler and the assembly is waterproof, it should be OK. If instead they peeled back the center core and braid and soldered the wires to the old wires, I would not accept that approach. What is that connection covered with?

I wouldn't opt for the 350 even if you gave it to me. A brand new 350 maybe but's it only out a year or so and I prefer not to buy the first year of any engine. And if you see a 232 with an Evinrude I'll bet you can negotiate a lower price:)

Sounds like a plan. The 300 is a good fit and you know what to expect handling wise. Good luck with your search.

I am not as concerned about the rust runs. This is a common issue with swim platforms, primarily because the platform is under a lot of stress when used and as a result things like mounting screws, move a bit breaking the seal and allowing moisture to seep in. There are rust runs under the left...

    Freedom 285 vs 275 questions

Thanks for the feedback. What model year is your boat? I am aware of issues with hardware on later model Gradys but I am not sure if it is Covid related (supply chain issues) or more pervasive.

    Freedom 285 vs 275 questions

There is lots of feedback on 275s but not much on 285s. I ask because of a post I read about a member who is selling his late model 275 and buying a 285. Is the 275 that bad or is the 285 that good:) I originally thought the 285 was the updated version of the 275 but it is a different beast and...

New motor Arriving: Is my Engine Mount Good?

Have you checked the bracket for water? That inspection plate on the top is how you would get a look at the inside. You might be able to test if the bracket has water in in it by tapping on the side from top to bottom with a small hammer and listening for an obvious change in the tone that...
